Location Description: Michael Foods, Inc. located in Gaylord, Minnesota is Minnesota's Healthy Heartland! Gaylord is located in south central Minnesota about an hour west of the Twin Cities and 35 minutes from Mankato, Hutchinson, and New Ulm. As the County Seat, Gaylord is the "Hub of Sibley County." Our location produces liquid egg, hardcook egg, and precooked egg such as scrambled, patties and omelets. Responsibilities:

POSITION SUMMARY:
The purpose of the job is to care for 90,000 up to 115,000 birds per pullet house. This position is responsible for assigned barn for the life of that flock.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, clients, co-workers and management.
- Maintains regular and consistent attendance in relation to production scheduling and/or time volunteered for.
- Responsible for ensuring barn is washed, dusted, swept and repaired for new flock.
- Check feed, ventilation, lighting, heating and water. Makes adjustments as necessary.
- Removes mortality from cages daily and reports on barn sheets.
- Conducts preventive maintenance on equipment as needed. Replaces lower tier fan and feeder motors, fan belts and tension fan belts. Daily replenishes foot baths.
- Checks and repairs feed, ventilation, lighting and water to insure needs of animals are met at all times as required by UEP.
- Catches loose birds and places them back in cages while observing bird density guidelines.
- Follow all LOTO safety procedures and ensure all safety shields are in place.
- Keeping loading deck clear of ice, snow and garbage.
- Cleans assigned houses by sweeping, scraping, and dusting in/around/under cages. Cleans sight tubes and filters.
- General housekeeping such a stowing equipment to prevent safety hazard from clutter.
- Follow all bio-security guidelines and birth health processes.
- Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.
- Preforms breakroom janitorial duties, breakroom housekeeping, and helps take care of laundry as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
- Ability to add and subtract two digits numbers.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in oral form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving troubleshooting.
