Location Description: Michael Foods, Inc. located in Norwalk, Iowa is a southern suburb in the Des Moines, Iowa metropolitan area. We are known for knowing our neighbors and enjoying a great quality of life! Our location produces high quality precooked egg patties as well as various French Toast products. Responsibilities:
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is to direct job assignments and support to the precooked labor and operators in the department. Train in all new line workers and operators. This position is responsible for assisting the shift supervisor in the managing of the packaging department. This position has the responsibility to comply with Safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value. Ensures that all policies, procedures and activities, related to Food Safety & Quality, are followed and complied with uniformly, in an effort to reduce product and process variability.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ability to perform and teach all jobs in the area; oven operation, line work, robot, sanitation and forklift.
- Monitor product and standards and make changes to operation to ensure product is being produced with the highest possible quality.
- Helps maintain control records related to precooked department, including but not limited to production records, safety inspections/audits.
- Continually monitors lines for quality product and notifies all appropriate personnel if discrepancy is found.
- Monitors processing equipment on a continual basis to maintain proper production standards.
- Reports and fills out work orders on maintenance issues as they relate to productivity, food safety, quality and human safety to maintenance.
- Coaches and encourages suggestions from employees which will improve productivity, quality or control cost of production.
- Maintain accurate reports for accounting, operation and scheduling. completes daily paperwork in SAP and RedZone. Reports include downtime reports, shift reports, and production run reports.

- Assume personal responsibility to ensure a safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and incorporate safety and health in all jobs and tasks.
- Adhere to Quality work practices, follow all GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety and quality.
- Ensure regulatory compliance at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- The successful completion of Powered Industrial Truck training program and pass the forklift certification.
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and comprehend in English simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence in English.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization in English.
- Bilingual is a plus.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
