Job SummaryPosition responsible for answering after-hours surgery scheduling calls, scheduling OR, Endoscopy and Cath Lab add-on procedures and preparing surgical case carts. Responsible for providing proficient perioperative patient care through the use of equipment and instrumentation. Position functions as a scrub assistant to the physician performing operative and/or invasive procedures. Works under the direction of a Registered Nurse and as outlined in the Surgical Technologist Skills Inventory; uses knowledge/expertise to act as a role model and resource for other staff.Position must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient served as well as knowledge of the principles of growth and development as it relates to the different life cycles.
Job Description
Certified Surgical Technologist/ OR Coordinator, Weekends
*Full time; 7am-7:30pm every Saturday/ Sunday and 7pm-7:30am every Monday
*CST and BLS required
*2+years of Surgical Tech experience required
*Hospital experience preferred
*Excellent computer skills/ knowledge and proficient in MS Office
*Medical/ Surgical terminology pronunciation and spelling
*Excellent written and verbal communication
*Attention to details
*Responsibilities include answering phones, scheduling add-on procedures, preparing case carts, scrub cases and assist with other Perioperative tasks as assigned.
This position is located at Memorial Hermann Southeast.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Graduate of a Surgical Technologist Program
License/Certification: Certified in Basic Life Support
and current Certification as a Surgical Technologist by the National Board of Surgical Technology & Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)
or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
- New Grad
- Surg Tech I =1 year
- Surg Tech II = 2-4 years
- Surg Tech III = 5+ years
