Job SummaryPosition is responsible for mentoring with the Registered Nurse in providing care to patients and performing related clinical and clerical functions in support of building clinical competency and confidence. The position will apply clinical knowledge and practice clinical skills under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide competent care under the direction of an RN, appropriate to the patient and population served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development as it relates to the different life cycles.

PREFEERED QUALIFICATIONS* Graduating nursing school December 2024 or later* Open to working either Days or Nights* Specifically interested in working on MedSurg units during nursing school and after graduation and RN licensure
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Currently enrolled in an accredited school of professional nursing (RN) or recent graduate (within 120 days) of accredited school of professional nursing (RN).
- Verify academic standing by submission of unofficial school transcript
Licenses/Certifications:
- American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Certification
Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
- Ability to understand written instructions and perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Ability to perform duties requiring prolonged standing, walking, stooping, bending and lifting.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Maintains current enrollment in an accredited school of professional nursing (RN) or recent graduate (within 120 days) of accredited school of professional nursing (RN). Must provide proof of enrollment each semester or program completion.
- Performs indirect and direct patient care in a competent manner, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and within the scope of the Memorial Hermann Professional Student Nurse (PSN) Skills Inventory.
- Performs tasks as assigned by the RN and in accordance with the professional student nurse's training and capabilities.
- Collaborates with all members of the inter-professional health care team by actively communicating and reporting pertinent patient care information and data in a comprehensive manner.
- Ensures safe care to patients adhering to policies, procedures, and standards, within budgetary specifications, including time management, supply management, productivity, and accuracy of practice.
- Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education, skills competency, supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization.
