East POD Locations: Dallas/H&S, Denton, Lewisville, Las Colinas, McKinney, Plano, Frisco, Sachse
4 12 hour Shifts/Pay Period
1 On-Call per 4-Week Schedule
2 Weekend Shifts per 4-week Schedule Period
Rate: $45/hour
Holiday: 1 Major and 1 Minor

Job Summary and Qualifications
Under the supervision of the manager and registered nurse, the certified surgical technician (CST) provides safe and efficient care to the patient in the operating room. Included in this assignment is a strong working knowledge of the perioperative setting and effective communication skills in a manner consistent with the mission and goals of the organization and standards and policies of Operating Room care.
What You Will Do In This Role:
- You will maintain a safe and therapeutic Operating Room and pre-surgical area environment.
- You will perform necessary technical skills in a scrub role requiring aseptic technique as delineated through standards of Operating Room care.
- You will document accurately on all records, as indicated by policy.
- You will attend and being on time, ready to work your scheduled hours is an essential job function.
- You will prepare the operating room for surgical procedures.
- You will ensure surgical equipment is functioning properly and safely; responsible for supplies, instrumentation and equipment needed for surgical cases.
- You will anticipate the needs of the surgical team based on knowledge of human anatomy and pathophysiology and how they relate to the surgical patient and the procedure being performed.
- You will care and maintenance of surgical instruments.
- You will be proficient in surgical environment as surgical assistant passing instruments and assisting the physician during surgical cases.
- You will be organized and time management skills required.
- You ensure patient care and/or department service is delivered in a safe, competent, and efficient manner as determined by outcomes, quality monitors, and other internal and external processes; measure of effectiveness as observed by manager and others and review of documentation.
- You will conduct and interpersonal relationships contribute positively to the delivery of quality care and services, and to orderly operation of the department and the facility.
- You will promote a supportive Operating Room environment.
- You will be an emotional support for patients and families based on the assessments of their coping skills.
- You will have effective verbal and written communication skills.

- You will have timely completion of all assigned educational assignments.
- You will seek out opportunities to further enhance nursing education, skills, and knowledge.
What qualifications you will need:
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- High School Graduate / GED
- Vocational School Graduate
- Certified Surgical Technician (CST), or Technician in Surgery (NCCT) must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Minimum 2 years of recent acute hospital experience as a scrub tech; highly preferred
