Job Summary and Qualifications
- Ensure that the requirements are maintained for the Neonatal Intensive Care for accreditation with State and Federal agencies, and ensure completion of required actions. Coordinate collaborative interdisciplinary strategies for survey preparation and processes for ongoing compliance to regulatory standards.
- Provide leadership and consultative services for performance improvement activities of the neonatal program.
- Collaborate with the NICU clinical manager and the Neonatal Medical Director to review and oversee the provision of neonatal care services from admission, stabilization and through discharge.
- Ensure compliance activities for all regulatory agencies for the designation program.
- Maintain responsibility for knowledge and skill of clinical requirement in nursing specialties.
- Demonstrate knowledge of age specific processes of care.
- Coordinate referrals when physician or departmental review is indicated.
- Oversee the NICU Quality Assurance and Process Improvement (QAPI) initiatives.
- Chair the neonatal QAPI multidisciplinary meeting and present monthly statistics and quality improvements
- Provide accurate and timely data to the appropriate committees and identifies opportunities for improvement in conjunction with performance improvement.
- Support the initial and ongoing education of the NICU nursing staff and the development of contents in compliance with mandatory standards.
- Assure the facility performs concurrent rounding on the patients and medical record reviews.
- Assure the integrity and maintenance of available neonatal registry databases.
- Support the development, implementation and revision of policies, procedures and guidelines in collaboration with the Neonatal Medical Director.
- Collaborate with NICU educator and manager to assure staff competency, education and training.
- Participate in activities and act as a leader in promoting best practices, department specific initiatives and process improvement.
- Develop collaborative relationships with other Neonatal Program managers of designated facilities within the applicable Perinatal Care Region.
- Serve as a healthcare advocate in monitoring and promoting quality health care and services for the patients served.
- Build on the ANA Standards of Care and Standards of Professional Practice [1].
- Support the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
- Other duties as assigned.
What qualifications you will need:
- Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing.
- BSN required, MSN preferred.
- Professional certification preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Level III neonatal intensive care is required.
- Current RN license in the State of Texas or compact license.
- Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS provider.
- NRP required.
