Job Purpose: Two to three sentences describing the overall purpose of the job | |
Take accurate orders, serve food and beverage items in a timely manner, provide information about menu items and ensure guest satisfaction. | |
Job Responsibilities: Maximum of ten responsibilities, in order of percentage of time spent on functions from longest to shortest; do not list anything that does not represent at least 10% of the job’s time. Please include supervisory responsibilities. | |
1. | Ensure all tables are set properly prior to guest arrival. |
2. | Present menus to guests and answer questions about menu items, making recommendations upon request. |
3. | Take food and beverage orders from guests. Up-sell orders by suggesting appropriate additions to orders to maximize sales and guest satisfaction. |
4. | Enter orders into computer order system. Ensure food is prepared correctly prior to serving. |
5. | Follow up with table to ensure guest satisfaction throughout meal. Serve and replenish beverages and other accessories throughout the meal. |
6. | Prepare guest checks ensuring correct orders are listed and totaled. Return promptly with change and receipt having followed the proper cash or credit procedures. |
7. | Demonstrate product knowledge and assist in training new servers and server assistants. |
8. | May transport food orders from the kitchen to the appropriate guest. |
9. | Complete daily side work duties as assigned. |
10. | Assist Server Assistants in clearing and resetting tables as needed. |
11. | Perform other duties as assigned. |
Job Qualifications: Describe the minimum qualifications needed to complete the job responsibilities. | |
Education | High school diploma or equivalent preferred. |
Experience | Minimum six months serving experience preferred, ideally in a high-volume full service restaurant. Good communication skills required. |
Licenses/Certifications | Food Handler’s card, Alcoholic Beverage Commission (ABC) card may be required |
