UNIT SUMMARY: The Household units provide long-term care for patients. Households are comprised of six units with 14 private bedrooms in each. Each HH has a central kitchen where a hostess can cook for the patients daily, den with books and a large-screen television, and a washer and dryer so that staff can wash residents’ clothing separately. HH 5-6 are for patients that may be suffering from dementia or reduced cognitive abilities; due to this staff members must badge-in and badge-out to prevent patients from exiting the units. Staff members must be able to recognize an individual’s likes, dislikes, routines and needs and deliver care based on that information.
JOB SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Clinical Leader/DON, the Household LPN utilizes a general understanding of the principles of nursing and basic physical assessment skills in the development of and implementation of individualized nursing care plans to ensure that the needs of the residents are met; assists in the orientation of the supervision of nursing personnel; and attends to the daily operations of the unit on a per shift, household level and assumes responsibilities of a leadership role.
REQUIREMENTS: Formal working knowledge; equivalent to an Associate's degree (2 years college); requires knowledge of a specialized field. Less than 1 year of experience. American Heart Association CPR Certification, License Practical Nurse (LPN).
