UNIT SUMMARY: Intermediate Care is a 36-bed step down unit which takes care of patients needing closer and in-depth telemetry monitoring. Each room is equipped with hemodynamic monitors and is capable of cardiac telemetry and continuous pulse oximetry for stable and unstable patients. We take care of a wide variety of adult patients with neurologic, respiratory, cardiac, renal, gastrointestinal, genitourinary as well as endocrine and gynecologic conditions. We also provide care for trauma, post-surgical and behavioral patients. Our nurses will be trained in a fast-paced environment and will be ACLS, Trauma and Stroke certified to be able to provide care for the patient population. The RN should have strong critical thinking and assessment skills and able to communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team while utilizing the resources that is available in the unit. While IMC is critical and fast-paced, teamwork is key to success. Our staff is very supportive and helps in nurturing new RN graduates and new to specialty nurses. We also practice shared governance where RN's involvement is paramount. We also strive to uphold Magnet principles in order to provide the best care for our patients. This is a great learning environment that could prepare nurses for advancement of their nursing career.
JOB SUMMARY: As a member of the patient care team, the RN provides safe, age-appropriate patient care and functions as an advisor and resource for patients and their families.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Formal working knowledge; equivalent to an Associate's degree (2 years college
- Requires knowledge of a specialized field.
- Associate's degree or Diploma in Nursing.
- Less than 1 year of experience.
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse, registered to practice in Maryland.
- American Heart Association CPR Certification.
