The NISC IV Training Group (NTG) within Leidos is looking for a highly motivated individual with strong background in Strategic Communications Specialist to join our team in Washington, DC, assisting the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Office of Commercial Space Transportation (AST). This person needs to provide crucial support to AST in conducting comprehensive studies and policy analysis regarding U.S. Government positions on commercial space policy at both national and international levels. This role requires skillful coordination of FAA positions to amplify AST's visibility and engagement within the industry and among key stakeholders. The ideal candidate will possess the strategic acumen to represent AST at pertinent conferences, develop a unified communications strategy, and foster partnership between government and industry partners to enhance mission delivery effectiveness.
NOTE: This position is remote. However, the candidate will have to be local to the DMV area and available for in-office meetings as needed.
Clearance
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Security Clearance Suitability through the FAA prior to starting position.
Primary Duties
Sponsor coordination of national, international, bi-lateral, and multi-lateral AST objectives; including prioritizing listing events and meetings, that considers crucial characteristics, topic focus, attendees, location, cost, and alignment with AST goals and objectives.
Identify clear goals for FAA's participation in each event or meeting given AST policy positions, identifying key topics or positions to advance, relationships to be fostered, and the nature of participation such as panels, presentations, or industry meetings.
Develop compelling materials to articulate AST policy positions including executive speeches, presentations, or talking points for conferences, and speaking events, that convey key messages while engaging the target audience.
Identify the support materials that align with AST's messaging and goals and support executive and government participants with their initiatives.
Maintain the plan of events and meetings and schedule regularly and provide status updates on upcoming events and AST's readiness to participate, including recommending environment (virtual, in-person, or hybrid) and facilitating in-person and virtual attendance.
Coordinate with AST personnel and conduct research on AST positions and objectives to inform materials and guide coordination with stakeholders, inform engagement strategies, apply past lessons learned, and develop meeting plans for executives.
Identify and map stakeholders for AST, their ability to influence AST objectives and policy positions, current alignment with AST, and priority in relation to objectives.
Develop core communications objectives and core messages based on inputs from AST and other stakeholders to produce material that will streamline interactions between government and industry stakeholders.
Socialize core messaging which may include guidelines, toolkits, or FAQs.
Basic Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree and 8 – 12 years of prior relevant work or Master’s with 6 – 10 years of prior relevant work.
Experience in strategic planning, audience identification, engagement, and evaluation demonstrating measurable impact.
Excellent verbal and communication skills with the ability to convey concepts to a variety of audiences, both in person and in writing.
Strong interpersonal skills, partnership and teambuilding skills, and the ability to interact effectively with various stakeholders.
Ability to work well under pressure with strong customer service skills.
Strong adaptability and creativity; ability to identify and answer to evolving priorities and identify solutions to problems.
Strong research and analytical abilities, with Strong organizational skills, sound judgement, and flexibility to adapt and adjust to changing priorities.
Ability to plan, set goals, and determine strategies for accomplishing results, as well as monitor, evaluate and report on progress towards goals.
Background managing projects across different stakeholders, achieving specific outcomes within set deadlines.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience managing strategic communications in a government or federal agency.

Pay Range:Pay Range $78,000.00 - $141,000.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
