Leidos has a career opportunity for a Communications Director leading strategic initiatives supporting Leidos’ Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) IT Business Area. The Communications Director will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive communication strategy for all internal and external communications activities for the Business Area, including program communications support for the Defense Enclave Services (DES) and Global Solutions Management-Operations (GSMO) II contracts.
Under the DES contract, Leidos is partnering with the DISA to deliver on 4th Estate Network Optimization, an effort to optimize the network capabilities for the 4th Estate Defense Agencies. Under GSMO II, Leidos is operating, defending, and sustaining the Department of Defense (DOD) Information Network / Defense Information System Network, a critical system that securely connects more than three million end users at more than 3,000 DOD and federal sites around the world.
This position is located in Reston, VA with remote work flexibility on occasion. Must be willing to travel when necessary.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Responsible for all aspects of designing and executing communication strategies and tactics leveraging all communication channels (e.g., written communication, intranet content, virtual, and in-person meetings).
Writes, edits, and distributes internal and external communication deliverables for accuracy, tone, and clarity. Reviews/edits work products from others for accuracy and clarity.
Ghost writes communications for business and program leaders, with the ability to capture unique styles for authenticity. Develops messaging and leader talking points on key topics.
Meets with senior-level customers for engagement and coordination. Serves as the communications interface with the customer on joint communications initiatives.
Develops customer-facing communications, as needed, to support program performance and after-action plans.
Leads social media campaigns and content strategy for DES and GSMO II.
Develops and maintains relationships with Leidos subject matter experts and thought leaders.
Plans and executes quarterly town hall meetings for employees.
Provides communications support (planning, emceeing, etc.) for virtual and in-person meetings, events, and initiatives, as needed.
Leads staff engagement and organizational change management campaigns.
Develops and publishes content to both program and broader Leidos populations.
Facilitates outreach campaigns, events, and other activities.
Provides timely and accurate responses to communications and data reporting requests from Leidos and our customers.
Maintains relationships and tie-in to corporate communications teams and community.
Identifies and develops opportunities to integrate effective strategies as part of the broader corporate communications operation (e.g., marketing, internal communications).
Participates in meetings to gather and synthesize information and identify opportunities to develop and/or improve communications.
Measures and presents results of communication efforts, as needed.
Provides strategic communication guidance and counsel to senior leaders.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Communications, Marketing, English, or Political Science) and minimum of 12 years of professional experience tied to communications, marketing, and/or media relations.
US Citizen with the ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance.
Demonstrated expertise in the planning and execution of proactive communication campaigns for large, complex organizations or government/political officeholders that engage a broad spectrum of stakeholders.
Ability to balance and advance multiple communications projects simultaneously.
Prior experience communicating directly with government customers at varying levels.
Significant knowledge of communications best practices.
Expert writing and editing skills. AP Sstyle grammar proficiency preferred.
Strong technical aptitude and an ability to understand information technology terms and concepts.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines across multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing demands on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. Working some nights and weekends may be required.
Demonstrated initiative and resourcefulness with a hands-on approach to problem solving.
Excellent presentation, public speaking, and written communication skills.
Demonstrated success utilizing digital and social media platforms.
Demonstrated expertise in advising senior leaders.
Exceptional organization skills and ability to respond quickly and accurately to requests.
Knowledge of federal contracting, IT services, digital modernization, and government affairs.
Fluent with Microsoft Office tools/programs, especially Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
Familiarity with web conferencing tools and platforms.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree.
DoD Secret security clearance.
Prior experience supporting DOD or federal agencies or programs.
Experience working for or with government contractors and/or IT solution providers.
User experience (UX) fundamentals.
Experience using collaborative software and workflow management platforms.

Pay Range:Pay Range $98,150.00 - $177,425.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
