The Health & Civil Sector at Leidos currently has an opening for a Senior Data Strategist.
The Senior Data Strategist will be a multi-faceted role supporting Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) Operating Divisions, such as Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Institutes of Health (NIH), Food & Drug Administration (FDA) and Administration for Strategic Preparedness & Response (ASPR), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) as well as Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) . The Sr. Data Strategist must have extensive career experience and recognized credentials supporting HHS OpDivs.
The ideal candidate will have a vibrant and sustained network, strong relationship building skills and must be familiar with the HHS & Agency CIOs, and leadership and the ability to exchange information and ideas with influencers and decision-makers supporting CDC and HHS OpDivs’ strategies, plans and programs.
Position Description
The Sr. Data Strategist will support business development and growth of Leidos business within HHS and act as a customer advocate to ensure that Leidos solutions bring value to our HHS customers. This position will support the development of data architecture and solutions for Leidos customers. This role will create strategy and roadmaps for Data with an eye towards innovation and will integrate with team on current projects and new business development activities.
In this role, the candidate will focus on data strategy for designated customers for the wide range of capabilities offered by Leidos. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Collaborate with key Leidos executives to generate and develop solutions for new business growth, marketing and proposal initiatives
- Market the full range of corporate capabilities
- Assist the Division in achieving key milestones to accomplish goals and impact growth
- Architecting data solutions utilizing state of the art tools within virtualized and cloud environments.
- Developing data architectures for federal customers in highly regulated and secure environments
- Taking customer requirements and synthesizing solution sets to meet customer mission objectives.
- Work with the end-customer to elicit requirements and implement enterprise data architecture and management solutions from design through deployment
- Develop innovative approaches and solutions for solving customer problems
- Support pre-proposal shaping and technical solution development and continue support through all phases of capture/proposal lifecycle through to execution
- Act as a subject matter expert in the community with a demonstrated ability to discuss and explain differentiated capabilities in Leidos programs, plans and positions on key areas related to HHS OpDivs
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree with 15-20 years of applicable experience.
- Experience designing and deploying data architectures for large-scale IT systems for large commercial and government customers.
- Experience developing innovative approaches and solutions.
- Experience leading world class teams and provide direction to technical staff for solution development.
- Strong communication skills and ability to communicate with program teams, CTO team and senior executive leadership.
- Subject matter expertise in data architecture and technology development for government customers.
- Demonstrated skills in applied math and statistics
- Experience with data visualization and visualization tools
- Experience with the design of databases, data warehouses, data marts and data lakes
- Data architecture strategy
- Data modeling and model optimization
- Knowledge and experience with data security architecture
- Experience with data governance policy and procedures in a Federal environment
- Experience with data architecture applications
- Relevant Subject Matter Expert (SME) in HHS communities
- Demonstrable ability to leverage pre-existing network of clients or contacts
- Prior experience of collaboration efforts outside the organization
- Poised, exceptional executive presence and highly articulate
- Proven ability to positively influence change at different levels of the organization
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
Preferred experience:
- 5-10 years experience developing and writing proposals for cutting-edge complex data solutions
- Experience as lead data solutions architect for proposals for government customers
- Experience in relationship building that increases market penetration and leads to increased opportunities with new and existing clients
- Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate and work with supporting functions and other delivery organizations for win / win results
Work location / travel:
- Preferred location is Reston, Virginia area, however current home state is acceptable
- Relocation assistance is not being offered for this position
- Travel is expected approx. 10 – 20% as there are multiple office locations included in this organization

Pay Range:Pay Range $144,300.00 - $260,850.00
The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
