Leidos is seeking a talented Structural Engineer to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Leidos provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions.

The Structural Engineer will join a select team of engineers who are responsible for the design, manufacture, test and deployment of airborne and advanced airborne defense systems.
THE CHALLENGE (primary responsibilities)
Perform static, linear structural analysis for modifications to FAR Part 23 and Part 25 aircraft
Analyze metals, non-metallic, and composite structures using both Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and classical hand calculation methodology
Write structural test plans, test reports, and structural analysis reports
Computer Aided Design (CAD) design/drafting
Peer review analyses and drawings of other engineers
Review and approve deviation request and non-conformance reports
Providing technical inputs to mechanical designs during all phases of the design
Responsible for analysis and feedback multiple design projects simultaneously, utilizing sound project management principles to prioritize work to meet cost, schedule, and quality objectives
Present analysis assumptions and results during internal and external design reviews
WHAT SETS YOU APART (basic qualifications)
Candidate must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university and at least 4 years of stress analysis and composites experience in industry; additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
Candidate must be able to write technical reports and present data to a multi-disciplined team.
The position requires candidates to be capable of performing in a collaborative engineering environment working closely with multi-disciplinary teams.
Candidate must be a willing to work in our Bridgewater Virginia OR in our Manassas Virginia office with the ability to travel to Bridgewater, VA at least 3-4 times a month and depending on the work load.
Must be able to obtain and maintain DoD Secret Security Clearance
Preferred Qualifications
Proficient knowledge of FEMAP and SolidWorks
CFD, damage tolerance, vibration, fatigue, and/or thermal analysis experience
Experience with Army Aviation Engineering Directorate (AED) and NAVAIR requirements
Working knowledge of FAA rules and regulations
Advanced structural analysis techniques (Linear contact FEA, Non-linear FEA, Application of non-linear material properties to hand analysis, Integrated multi-physics analysis).
Bolted joint and weld analysis
Dynamics analysis (modal, response spectrum, shock, vibration)
Fatigue analysis
Composite materials
Thermal analysis
Active Secret clearance

Pay Range:Pay Range $81,250.00 - $146,875.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
