The Leidos Digital Modernization Sector Health IT Division is seeking a Senior Amazon Web Services (AWS) Solution Architect with extensive knowledge and expertise in AWS technologies and architecture. The Senior AWS Solution Architect will play a pivotal role the cloud migration journey for Federal Health customers, and will design, implement, and optimize cloud-based solutions on the AWS platform, ensuring a scalable, secure, and high-performing infrastructure that aligns with end user research and operational needs. The Senior AWS Solution Architect will collaborate closely with SecDevOps teams, stakeholders, and AWS representatives to deliver innovative solutions that accelerate cloud adoption. The Senior AWS Solution Architect will collaborate with diverse stakeholders across the customer enterprise, external partners, and Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) to ensure a seamless transition while minimizing disruptions to operations.
Candidate must be local to the DC Metro area for onsite work and be a US Citizen or US Person with the ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.
Primary Responsibilities
Candidate will possess an in-depth understanding of AWS services, infrastructure components, security best practices, and architectural patterns. Candidate will guide users on the optimal selection and configuration of AWS resources to meet their specific needs will be responsible for successful delivery of activities across the enterprise, including:
Cloud Architecture Design:
Help users conceptualize and design comprehensive AWS solutions, providing guidance on resource allocation, scalability, high availability, disaster recovery, and performance optimization.
Develop and maintain comprehensive cloud architecture blueprints for enterprise applications and workloads.
Evaluate and recommend the most suitable AWS services and configurations for optimal performance and cost-effectiveness.
Design scalable and resilient cloud solutions that meet workload owners’ specific requirements.
Solution Implementation:
Lead the implementation of cloud solutions, including the migration of existing applications and the development of new cloud-native applications.
Assist in the implementation process, offering insights on deployment strategies, automation, and monitoring.
Configure and optimize AWS services, ensuring adherence to best practices and security standards.
Automate cloud infrastructure provisioning and management using infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools.
Technical Guidance and Support:
Provide expert technical guidance to IT teams and stakeholders on AWS best practices, architecture patterns, and troubleshooting techniques.
Mentor and train junior cloud engineers on AWS technologies and solution design principles.
Collaborate with AWS representatives to leverage their expertise and stay informed on the latest AWS offerings.
Identify and resolve issues in existing AWS environments, analyze performance bottlenecks, and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Provide expert advice on AWS-related topics, such as cloud migration strategies, security hardening, compliance requirements, and integration with other systems.
Performance Optimization:
Monitor cloud performance metrics, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimization strategies.
Conduct regular reviews of cloud infrastructure and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
Ensure that cloud solutions are highly available, fault-tolerant, and disaster-resilient.
Security and Compliance:
Design and implement cloud security controls to protect data and applications.
Ensure compliance with relevant security standards, regulations, and policies.
Conduct regular security assessments and vulnerability scans to identify and address potential risks.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field with minimum of 12+ years of experience architecting and implementing AWS cloud solutions.
AWS Certified: AWS Solutions Architect Professional certification.
Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale, complex migrations with multiple stakeholders.
Experience with AWS cloud technologies and migration strategies.
Experience with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools (CloudFormation, Terraform) and configuration management tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
Experience with AWS DevOps for CI/CD pipelines.
Knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and serverless computing.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
ITIL Foundations certification.
Preferred Qualifications
Deep understanding of AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, etc.) and their integration.
Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash) and experience with automation frameworks.
Experience delivering IT services in support of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) or in a biomedical research environment.
One or more of the following certifications: Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Google Cloud Professional Certification, PMI Project Management Professional (PMP).

Pay Range:Pay Range $122,200.00 - $220,900.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
