Description
The NISC IV Training Group (NTG) within the Leidos Civil group is seeking an experienced Meteorologist / Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join the team, providing support to the Federal Aviation Administration. The Meteorologist/Subject Matter Expert will support the FAA and Alaska Flight Services Training Academy (AFSTA) to develop weather related training.
Primary Responsibilities
Participate in team meetings to provide expertise and guidance for content used in courseware.
Review and provide feedback to course PowerPoints, Instructor Guide’s and Student Guides.
Collaborate with FAA SMEs to conduct reviews Conduct a review and identify course improvements and determine which content is relevant and obsolete.
Work with Instructional Systems Designers to develop courseware and ensure accuracy pertaining to Alaska weather.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, or other Natural Science field that included at least 24 semester hours in Meteorology and/or Atmospheric Science and 8 – 12 years of prior relevant experience.
Knowledge of Alaska terrain and experience with Alaska Weather and terminology.
Solid interpersonal skills (oral & written)
Ability to handle multi-tasking priorities and strong self-motivation skills.
Demonstrated aptitude for collaboration and teamwork
Ability to effectively communicate in written and verbal form to individuals at different organizational levels.
Strong writing, time-management, and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently within a fast-paced, large engineering organization.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust - FAA Suitability clearance
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience supporting FAA or other Federal Government agencies.
Knowledge of and experience with NAS systems and terminology.
Experience in training development (as an instructor, or a training developer) is required. This course is teaching entry level students, and the qualified candidate must understand the principles of learning as well as how to develop baseline knowledge in a learner on weather concepts.

Pay Range:Pay Range $78,000.00 - $141,000.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
