We are seeking qualified candidates for the position of National Safety Manager.
In this role, the National Safety Manager provides expertise and technical assistance to senior management for the implementation of the company safety and security policies by establishing and managing a safety & security program that meets or exceeds all current standards. Represents the program and company in all safety matters pertaining to internal and external activities. Receives assignments in terms of broad objectives from the NISC National Program Manager and EH&S Director. Reviews, interprets, and provides assistance on safety regulations and standards. Monitors company safety performance and conducts project safety inspections.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Risk Assessment/Management
Provides program leadership, support, and assistance to all levels of management in achieving program and corporation goals for reducing incidents.
Assigns and provides technical supervision of safety & security performance, qualifications, and programs.
Conducts safety audits through review and analysis of performance of safety records and safety inspections of various offices and projects in compliance with Leidos Safety Management System and Client requirements.
Participates in pre-job conferences to present the company safety policy and explain implementation on the project.
Assists Leidos Workers Compensation team in coordinating medical care and case management of employees injured on the job.
Reviews loss control reports from company insurance carriers and regulatory inspection agencies and confers with appropriate management representatives on compliance with regulations and citations.
Engages existing and new subcontractors for NISC program operational requirements ensuring companies are aligned with Leidos and client requirements.
Manage and track program leading and lagging indicators.
Lead event investigations, focusing on areas of positive recognition or corrective action and develop lessons learned for program distribution.
Participates in management review sessions with program management and client.
Develop training materials for industry and client specific needs. Deliver training to employees and stakeholders throughout the program.
Accurately and promptly respond to program, client and corporate requests for information.
Evaluate the safety conditions of proposed projects by utilizing OSHA regulations, policies, and safety procedures.
Formulate a safety checklist for each proposed project, identifying safety risk factors, and safety mitigation solutions.
Inspect the condition of safety gear on site and instruct small teams on the proper wearing and usage of personal protection equipment.
Manage a team of Risk Specialists who support the program remotely throughout the US.
Position will require travel- 15%
Note: this is a hybrid work situation with 2 days in the DC office and 3 days working from home in the VA/DC/MD area each week.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:
Requires extensive knowledge of federal and state health and safety regulations and reporting procedures, as well as strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to perform in a supervisory/managerial capacity is also required. Good self-starter/ability to perform functions with minimal oversight.
Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Moderate travel to regional offices and job site locations will be required.
Must be able to meet customer security requirements. A background check by Federal Authorities will be performed. To be eligible must be a US Citizen or a Green Card holder who has resided in the US for the past 3 years.

Pay Range:Pay Range $87,100.00 - $157,450.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
