What will you do in this role?
Design and plan network systems.
Possess a complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories and concepts in the field.
Provide specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture.
Provide specific, detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques, and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements.
Conduct testing of network systems.
Maintain technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, switches, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.
Evaluate and report on new network technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.
General knowledge of other related disciplines.
Ability to provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems; solutions should be imaginative, thorough, practicable and consistent with organization objectives.
Contribute to completion of specific programs and projects.
Works under very general direction. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions.
Work is/may be reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives. Frequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts.
Represent organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.
Interact frequently with internal and external management and senior-level customer representatives concerning projects, operational decisions, scheduling requirements, and/or contractual clarifications.
Lead briefings and technical meetings for internal and external representatives.
What talent do you need to be successful?
Network Engineering background utilizing DNAC, NDFC, ACI etc.
Experience with regards to network design and projects (vs hands on network troubleshooting, maintaining).
Understanding of TCP/IP fundamentals (e.g. DNS, FTP, SSH, ACL, VLAN, DMZ, BGP), general networking technologies, network architecture and connectivity troubleshooting.
Ability to describe and troubleshoot routing and switching issues.
Network design, engineering, and implementation (Advanced Level).
Creation of network related Rough Order Magnitude (ROM) equipment lists and costing.
Interpersonal skills, to help negotiate priorities.
Ability to work independently with little direction and guidance.
Understanding and experience with the DoD Architecture Framework and other key DoD network architecture and strategic planning instructions.
Thorough experience performing packet capture analysis or running Wireshark is highly desirable.
Review and/or approve Network engineering documentation to ensure that processes and specifications meet network needs and are accurate, comprehensive, and all encompassing.
Establish and follow a formal procedure for coordinating Network integration activities among multiple teams, ensuring complete coverage of all interfaces.
Capture all interface designs in a common interface control format, and store interface data in a commonly accessible repository.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent amount of experience/training and 8 years', Master's and 6, Associate's and 10 or High School Diploma and 12 years' relevant experience.
Overall experience should include:
5 years related technical experience in Network and Transport technologies, tools, and techniques
5+ years experience with large-scale enterprise/global networks in a high paced diverse environment
Current IAT II 8570/8140 Baseline Certification Security+ or equivalent
Current CCNA Certification
Current TS/SCI Security Clearance (US Citizenship required)
Position may require lifting of objects (i.e. IT Hardware), reaching/bending/kneeling (i.e. plug in cables) and other moderately strenuous activity
Able to travel (CONUS and OCONUS) for exercise support, 10%
Current U.S. Passport
Able to work evenings and weekends as needed
Desired Skills:
CCNP, CCDP (or equivalent).
Designing, implementing, and troubleshooting Cisco ACI-based networks.
Managing and boosting the Cisco ISE solution across the organization.
Working with cross-functional teams to integrate ISE with other network components.

Pay Range:Pay Range $87,100.00 - $157,450.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
