What you will do
This position manages activities and allocates resources within the Manufacturing Engineering – Fabrication function to meet Divisional, Site, and Value Stream goals. He/she/they will lead a group of Manufacturing Engineers and Technicians to design and develop tools, controls, equipment, and processes to support manufacturing fabrication operations of HVAC light commercial units. A significant portion of the manager’s time is dedicated to team development, performance management, and organizational leadership responsibilities.
How you will do it
- Serves as the manufacturing engineering lead for Norman’s Manufacturing Engineering team.
- Provides direction and guidance to technician and engineering staff who exercise significant latitude and independence in their assignments.
- Aligns resources and identifies opportunities for improvement within the existing processes and systems.
- Builds strong relationships and collaborates with cross-functional teams including Operations, Maintenance Quality, R&D, Supplier Engineering, and Continuous improvement functions.
- Ensures that inputs from all internal and external customers are understood, plans are appropriately developed, and drives accountability and execution to plans.
- Utilizes excellent communication skills, demonstrating leadership communicating both up and down the organization.
- Influences, guides, and manages internal/external resources to achieve program goals.
- Provides significant guidance and approval regarding technical strategies and approaches.
- Recruits, coaches, and develops organizational talent.
- Fosters a diverse workplace that enables all participants to contribute to their full potential in pursuit of organizational objectives.

- Develops, monitors, and appropriately adjusts the annual budget for assembly department.
- Strong Capital Planning skills: budget, application and project management
What we look for
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline
- 10+ years of related work experience with metal stamping, welding, bending, punching, painting, cutting and foaming.
- 5 + years of supervisory / management experience
- Demonstrated track record of project management execution.
- Proven successful leadership experience.
- Experience with manufacturing process improvement and production tools (i.e. LEAN, DMAIC)
Preferred
- Master’s in engineering or business administration
- Experience leading teams through culture change.
- Ability to communicate at various levels of the organization.
- Hands on management style
