The Project Development Application Engineer is responsible for supporting the sale of a wide range of Chiller Solutions products through the JCI HVAC System Branches as well as JCI sales/marketing personnel in export markets. This role is based in our STIVA production facility and is targeted for supporting customer engagement during technical exploration and testing visits. This role has a strong impact on the success of the Chiller Solutions business. The support provided is primarily executed through direct customer engagement, technical discussions, and early involvement in complex projects. This role will lead evaluation and recommendations for testing programs related to customer chiller and heat pump system challenges.
As part of this role, the Project Development Application Engineer will guide and mentor other application engineers to ensure customer expectations (both internal and external to JCI) are being met.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
· Daily interaction with customer directly, MTY testing teams, and field sales teams regarding product technical inquiries and systems design and operations challenges.
· Interaction includes systems applications advice, creative solutions to unique customer needs and use of competitor knowledge to create advantages.
· Participate in the development of tools and documentation to support field sales as well as automate processes to support common inquiries.
· Leverage customer interaction to gain industry insights. Expectation is to gain understanding as to why YORK was chosen, what competitors are offering, new industry applications/requirements, etc. This knowledge needs to be translated to sales tools (white papers) and as voice of customer back to product management to help drive product development.
· Gain insight into pipeline of complex projects and provide support/guidance to the field as necessary and engage other AE teams as necessary.
· Assist and counsel customers and sales personnel in resolving equipment/job/code challenges.
· Effectively communicate and follow up with sales personnel, design engineers and product management teams to ensure customer requirements are clearly understood and responses are efficiently executed.
· Must be able to act as a spokesperson for Johnson Controls with customer groups and have the initiative to seek new areas of interest for Johnson Controls offerings. Must be astute and capable of handling all of the issues surrounding a complex product offering within a global product distribution system.
· Be proficient in the use of in-house engineering systems and documentation to aid in responding to inquiries for product details.
· Work with other factories to develop a global standard and expectation for factory customer visits – for both local and remote testing capabilities, and all processes that are used in support of visits.
· Create and deliver portions of sales training programs. These can include both on-site training classes as well as travel to field offices to support specific training needs.
· Demonstrate a high level of knowledge of products (JCI and competitor’s), market conditions and direction, environment (external influences of industry organizations and governmental regulations), technologies and their effect to the business.
· Ability to perform successfully in a multifunctional-team-work environment and be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
· Manage time and resources to ensure all Customer expectations are met.

REQUIREMENTS:
A BS degree in Engineering is required. A minimum of 10 years experience in refrigeration or a related field is required. A solid understanding of the principles of large refrigeration systems and associated equipment is required.
