HVAC Service Technician (Union)

What you will do

We are looking for skilled HVAC Service Technician who has experience with air cooled or water-cooled machines to work with top of the line commercial and industrial equipment. How you will do it

• Maintain and repair central plant equipment including chillers 100 tons and larger, motors, pumps, valves, controls, cooling towers, vane axial fans and other auxiliary equipment.

• Overhaul of centrifugal chillers.

• Familiar with all aspects of rigging.

• Support the office with recommended repairs from delivery to completion.

• Availability for emergency service calls "on-call" through normal rotation.

• Responsible for end-to-end testing, programming, start-ups and commissioning.

• Schedule and manage site-wide maintenance, troubleshooting and repair duties for chillers, cooling towers and central plant equipment.

• Perform daily and monthly preventative maintenance on all associated equipment of chillers, cooling towers and central plant equipment.

• Ensure completion of maintenance within the scheduled month and allocated time.

• Maintaining positive relationships with customers, vendors and co-workers.

• Provide technical support and troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of all on-site equipment.

• Attend monthly safety meetings.

• Ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures.

• Work directly with the Chiller Field Supervisor on new and existing customer opportunities or issues.

• Perform all other duties as assigned to meet customer critical missions.

What we look for

Required:

• Must be a member or willing to join the local United Pipefitters Association (UA).

• Completion of an apprenticeship program or technical schooling.

• Minimum of five (5) years of experience working as an HVAC Service Technician.

• EPA 608 Universal Technician certification.

• Demonstrated knowledge of maintenance practices and concepts.

• Valid driver's license with an excellent driving record.

• Must have knowledge of applicable federal, state and local safety codes and be able to read, interpret and explain schematics and drawings.

• Ability to resolve complex issues that require analysis, evaluation and interpretation.

• Knowledge of computer operations and applications pertinent to their field (CMMS, Microsoft applications and email).

• Ability to move / lift heavy objects, climb vertical ladders and work at various heights.

• Strong interpersonal skills and good customer service skills.

• Ability to read and write in the English Language.

• Ability to multi-task, be organized, pay attention to detail, be dependable and be a team player.

• Flexibility to work alternate schedules as necessary.

• Provide own basic hand tools.

Preferred:

• Niagara N4 or Siemens experience.

• Energy Management Control System (EMCS) / Building Management System (BMS) experience.
