Specific Accountabilities:
- Lead and direct a team of material handlers, assigning tasks and monitoring their work.
- Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to junior material handlers.
- Ensure that team members adhere to safety procedures and guidelines.
- Place all materials in the designated area.
- Ensure that all parts have been accounted for based on the pick list
- Check off all delivered parts before the end of your shift.
- Communicate with Supervisors to ensure clear lines of communication.
- Multi-task and prioritization in accordance with company daily schedule and requirements
- Experience with Sheet Metal. Hardware, Electronics, and shop tools a PLUS
- Other duties as assigned.

- Safety policies must be always adhered to.
- It is very important that the incumbent of this position can work and communicate with prudence, while effectively managing time, completing tasks, and working safely.
- Use of Personal Protection Equipment will be required (e.g., safety glasses, safety boots, ear protection, cut level 5 gloves etc.).
- Regularly works near moving parts.
- Requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination.
- Noise levels can fluctuate from quiet to loud.
- May work in tight spaces
- Hazards associated with the industry.
- Adhere to the 5S – Lean practice - a place for everything and everything in its place.
Education and Experience:
- Must read and write fluently in English
- Experience with all safe practices, procedures, and overall processes.
- Record data on material completion, CNS removal, or transfer tickets with the use of a scanner or other means. Verifies the correct counts and part numbers.
- Loads and unloads trucks and rail cars by hand or with a forklift. Verifies count, type and condition of material received from fabrication or trucking firms.
- Reports type and quantity of damaged material received for items shipped directly to assembly area. Notates damage on receiving slips for material control and completes a shortage / damage report.
- Receives in-coming materials, parts, and supplies from outside vendors. Must verify quantity on packing slip. Uses bar code scanner and printer to properly receive, identify and distribute to appropriate storage location. Must be knowledgeable of the safety procedures for handling hazardous substances such as acids and caustics.
- Moves scrap from production or assembly areas to storage location with lift truck. Maintains inventory records of scrap. Verifies counts or weigh counts material.
- Issues parts and supplies from cribs as needed and fills out proper forms. Visually counts or weigh counts material.
- Orders inventory for production areas when needed from warehouse.
- Operates a truck for transporting material and products between warehouse and other locations when necessary. Unloads flat bed and boxcars.
- Performs minor maintenance on trucks and performs maintenance and safety checks on forklifts and fills out record sheets. When necessary, fills LP gas tanks.
- Conducts daily inventories to assure proper materials are available to support production requirements.
- Assist in annual inventory in warehouses and other factory locations.
