Overview
The Journeyman Pipefitter will be responsible for the fabrication of piping systems and their components. Through the use of blueprints and project specifications, the Journeyman Pipefitter will construct piping systems that carry water, chemicals and fuel. Other responsibilities may include the testing of systems once they are in place. Preference will be given to Pipefitters with shop experience.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Fabricate and tacks piping/equipment supports, brackets, guides.
- Fit up and prepare piping requiring welded joints.
- Liaises and collaborates with other trades.
- Repairs plumbing systems, hydronic heating systems.
- Performs filter changes on hydronic heating systems, control air, air-handling units.
- Provides occasional guidance to the primary function of others, including training.
- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and specifications to determine layout requirements
- Measure, cut, and threading to required shape using hand and power tools
- Weld, tack and thread joints to join pipes and fabricate sections of piping system
- Install supports, valves, piping.
- Test system for leaks using testing equipment
- Clean and maintain pipe units and fittings and flush system
- Remove and replace worn components and reactivate system
- Performs all duties in accordance with Silent-Aire Limited Partnership safety program standards and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations, and Code.
- Performs other duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Steamfitter – Pipefitter Red Seal Certificate preferred
- 5+ years experience as a Journeyman Pipefitter
- First-aid certification is an asset
- Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
- Effective verbal and listening communications skills
- Time management skills
- Ability to draw appropriate sketches to communicate details
- Must possess a valid Driver's license
- Receptive to change - can adapt to changing circumstances.

Working Conditions
- Job requires ability to work with tools.
- Ability to lift and manipulate objects of up to 50 lbs for 50 feet is required.
- Use of Personal Protection Equipment will be required (e.g. hard-hat, safety boots, etc.)
- Hazards associated with the industry.
