Jabil is seeking an experienced Mechanical System Architect to work in St. Petersburg, FL. The Mechanical System Architect conceptualizes products, provides technical leadership, and drives the development of a wide range of technology-based products. The qualified candidate will focus on Energy Storage Systems (ESS), Data Center Infrastructure (DCI), Vehicle Chargers (VC), and other High-Level Assembly (HLA) applications. They will also focus on analyzing technical specifications and system requirements to determine the best approaches and feasibility of development within the time and cost constraints of project expectations.
As a Mechanical System Architect, you will be expected to demonstrate a level of expertise in a particular area that matches or exceeds the expertise of customers, while also consulting on mechanical system architectures, and system packaging, assessing technical requirements and competencies needed during quoting, and oversee design progressions during product development. Additionally, you will mentor and lead others in the mechanical organization to build up team member design capabilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Help drive the development and maintain processes and methods for product and technology architecture development & documentation, mechanical system design & documentation, and requirements engineering.
Identify internal and external resources that can support the product development cycle and architecture cycles.
Define Product Realization Proposals, System Specifications, Product Architectures, PRD, MRD, DFMEAs, design reviews, test plans, integration plans, etc., in collaboration with senior technical staff and Customers.
Guide and oversee the development of systems/products to maintain the consistency and integrity of the product's mechanical architecture.
Architect and guide analysis and simulation activities are necessary to determine performance, reliability, bandwidth, and other system design characteristics.
Help provide the lowest cost solution that meets the customer's needs and expectations, including concept, functional features, product development, components, and design process.
Architect mechanical requirements for engineering activities in support of ESS, DCI, VC, and other HLA platforms and product development.
Guide and oversee the development of mechanical system component requirements, interfaces, and specifications necessary to maintain the consistency and integrity of the product developments.
Oversee product design and documentation at a mechanical system and product level.
Work to develop partners and suppliers, when applicable to provide the best technical and cost solution.
Build Jabil ESS, DCI, VC, and other HLA technical and business design space competency; make Jabil experts in this space.
Help sell Jabil Technical Services, services and when applicable, supporting products.
Make Jabil shine in customer interactions; RFI/RFQ and kickoff interactions.
As a Jabil Mechanical System Architect, the qualified candidate will work with peers and Engineering Teams to develop detailed product design specifications and drive implementation.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree, in Mechanical Engineering & Masters in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
At least fifteen (15) plus years of experience required or an equivalent combination of education, training, or experience.
Ability to influence others and share best practices.
Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
Ability to work with a global team.
Experience working on projects, with the ability to assess and articulate risk while developing project milestones.
Develop projects in a stage-gate process (PLCQ)
Experience leading and mentoring less experienced engineers.
Lead cross-functional and Mechanical Engineering (ME) design reviews.
Coordinates with professional networks to answer unique issues related to Industry or specific sectors, regulatory and safety standards.
Strong knowledge of developing high-complexity projects that have required multiple Mechanical Engineering Design specializations or competencies: Tolerance Analysis, DFM, and Serviceability.
In-depth knowledge and use of key development tools and design standards: 3D CAD, Finite Element Analysis, Tolerances, Advanced Manufacturing Principles, and Interference Checks.
Familiar with heat transfer, thermodynamics, and creating thermal solutions in ESS or similar systems.
