You will get the opportunity to build your automation and consulting skills while working with some of IBM’s most complex customers and cutting-edge Automation technologies.Your Role and ResponsibilitiesAs a Junior Automation Consultant, you will have the opportunity to learn from the best, while working closely with our team of experts in automation tools and technologies to design, develop, and implement innovative automation and integration solutions. Your responsibilities will include:
- Automation Solution Design & Development: Collaborate with both senior team members and clients to design, develop, and maintain automation solutions using leading-edge technologies and platforms.
- Process Analysis: Analyse business processes to identify automation opportunities, streamline workflows, and improve efficiency.
- Scripting and Coding: Create and maintain automation scripts and code, utilizing tools and programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, Bash and others.
- Testing and Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough testing of automation solutions to ensure reliability, accuracy, and performance.
- Documentation: Prepare comprehensive documentation for automation solutions, including technical specifications, user guides, and maintenance & operations procedures.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand client needs and tailor automation solutions to meet their specific requirements.
- Continuous Learning: Stay updated on the latest technology trends and developments in the field of automation and actively contribute to the team's knowledge base.
- Grow Technical Eminence - opportunity to present to, and collaborate with, global teams, sharing your knowledge & experience and building your reputation both within IBM and the marketplace.
You will focus primarily within one of three Automation services practices, associated with a range of IBM technologies including:
- Business Automation: CloudPak for Business Automation, Content Manager on Demand, Business Automation Workflow, Business Process Manager, FileNET, Robotic Process Automation
- Integration: API Management, Event Streams, App Connect Enterprise, MQ messaging, CloudPak for Integration
- ITOps: CloudPak for AIOPs, Turbonomic, Instana, DevOps
At IBM Global Delivery Center we’re looking for proactive and growth-minded individuals with strong technical curiosity and the desire for continuous learning and ongoing development of new technology skills.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
- Excellent communication and presentation skills that are engaging, compelling, and influential
- B.S. in M.I.S., Business/Communications with a STEM minor, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience in Computer Science/Information Systems/Engineering or experience in Computer Science/Information Systems/Engineering.
- Ability to identify and implement automation concept
- Hands-on exposure to real-world application of computer science, information systems or engineering concepts
- 1-2 years of automation experience.
- 1-2 or more years of solution consulting or relevant industry experience.
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
Some existing experience in any of the following technologies would be advantageous:
- Software development languages
- CI/CD processes and pipeline tools for deploying and managing applications.
- Source control management systems (e.g., GitHub)
- Data and event streaming technologies (e.g. Apache Kafka, Apache Flink)
- Cloud platforms and their services
- Virtualisation technologies
- Containerisation and container management platforms (e.g Kubernetes, RedHat OpenShift)
- Linux
- Networking and security
