Heidelberg Materials is seeking a Concrete / Construction Management Trainee to join our team in Birmingham, AL. As a Concrete / Construction Management Trainee you will work within a structured developmental program, receiving an introduction to all production aspects of the concrete business. Working with a management sponsor, the candidate will complete assignments and ultimately taking on a supervisory role at Lehigh Hanson.

What you’ll get to do: Specific responsibilities may include but not limited to assisting Production Supervisors and/ or Plant Managers with:
- Complete technical projects to gain an understanding of the operations of a ready-mixed concrete plant.
- Learn the mission of the production, maintenance, and quality departments and different jobs and functions.
- Ensures compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations, as well as company policies and procedures
- Planning and direction of the daily operations
- Effectively and proactively administer Lehigh Hanson’s safety program ensuring compliance with MSHA and OSHA rules and regulations
- Overseeing the production planning, staffing, and day-to-day manufacturing operations in a cost-effective manner
- Preparing operational schedule and coordinate production activities to ensure production and quality of products meet specifications
- Troubleshooting and resolving operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays
What we are looking for:
- An entry level candidate with experience in the military, construction industry or an Associate, Bachelors or Advanced degree in engineering, construction management, concrete industry management or another applicable program
- Strong interpersonal, leadership and teamwork skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness maintain a safe workplace and to perform hands on duties as part of an overall development program
- Computer literacy
- Ability to anticipate and adapt to changing situations
- Willingness to travel and / or relocate for future assignments
