Job Description
The Program Coordinator for the Medical Weight Loss program will work under the guidance of the Program Medical Director. Responsibilities will include management of activities and functions related to the Medical Weight Loss Program. Activities will include strategic planning, program development, process improvement and support for development of educational materials. The Program Coordinator will work with the Practice Manager and Senior Leadership affiliated with Hartford Healthcare Medical Group (HHCMG). The Program Medical Director and Program Coordinator will work together to ensure all goals and objectives are defined and achieved.
Under the direction of the Program Medical Director, the Program Coordinator will be responsible for the following:
1.In collaboration with the Program Medical Director, responsible for all programmatic initiatives, standardization of educational materials, diet guides, dietary program materials, liaison for the clinical staff, host for council meetings, creation of agendas and communications on behalf of the program. Assists in the planning and implementation of the Program’s goals and Care Pathways as an Accredited Center with Obesity Medicine Qualifications with MBSAQIP. Develops and manages projects designed to increase efficiency, safety, and improve patient care outcomes. Liaison and meets regularly with providers/staff from all regional programs to assess needs, address problems, and initiative projects to improve and standardize the care of the medical weight loss patients. Participates as the facilitator or an active member of various meetings and committees including operations/manager’s meetings, MBS committee meetings, Obesity Council meetings, and interdisciplinary team meetings.
2.Operational management of the Hartford Obesity Medicine Fellowship and Quinnipiac SOM Obesity medicine elective. The responsibilities for the fellowship will include a comprehensive and detailed understanding of accreditation and medical group policies, as well as high degree of initiative and independent judgement. The Coordinator will continually assess and work on improvement initiatives related to direct programmatic issues. This will include long range planning, assisting with recruiting trainees, working in support of the Program Medical Director on project development, optimization of administrative workflow, communication with faculty and trainees, as well as managing internal and external program relations.
3.Coordination of Fellowship Activities to include support for the interview process, management and coordination of schedules for the Program Medical Director, candidate presentation and selection, collaboration with the fellowship committee, collaboration with the Practice Manager for onboarding, schedule development and Epic training. Failure to fulfill the complex responsibilities may result in fellow board ineligibility, loss of program accreditation, and financial impact to the department and program.
The Program Coordinator must have excellent communication skills, an ability to multi-task, and a passion for education, continuous improvement, and program development.
Qualifications
·BSN
·CT- RN licensure
·At least 2 years of providing patient care in an ambulatory care setting.
·Strong administrative and computer skills.
·Experience with Excel, Word and PP preferred.
