Quality Manager/Chief Inspector in GAC Van Nuys
Unique Skills:
Experience working in a FAA 145 Repair station. Preferred prior experience working with foreign civil aviation authorities.
The compensation range for this role is:
$132,465.00 - 142,250.00 Annually
Final compensation for this role will be determined by several factors including but not limited to; minimum and preferred qualifications, knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience and location.
Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in aviation sciences, quality systems or related field required or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. 6 years technical experience within Part 25 aircraft, working with a highly regulated quality assurance system. 3 years supervisory capacity.
Position Purpose:Responsible for implementing, managing and enforcing Repair Station quality policies and procedures; perform all duties of Chief Inspector. Manage and control the operations and personnel engaged in the performance of quality department activities to ensure safe, compliant and quality products are delivered by the Repair Station. Ensure policies, procedures and practices are consistent and compliant with US and international regulatory requirements to attain and sustain Repair Station business commitments.
Job Description
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:Essential Functions:
- Ensure the Repair Station is in compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements and manufacturers recommendations to assure all maintenance, repair, and alteration work is performed in accordance with applicable maintenance and regulatory requirements.
- May perform one or multiple of the following additional duties based on Repair Station General Manager assignments: Safety Management System (SMS) coordinator; Training Coordinator; Continuous Improvement coordinator; EHS coordinator; Security coordinator; Export/Import compliance; PMA approvals.
- Manage planning and development of quality standards, methods and procedures used by the Repair Station in complying with all applicable regulatory requirements and ensure effective utilization of labor and materials.
- Establish training programs to continually upgrade employees technical capabilities and knowledge of governing procedures, regulations and requirements. Promote employee suggestions and foster a team environment with high morale.
- Maintain working relationships with local regulatory authorities, OEMs and vendors to ensure the Repair Stations continued growth and successful daily operation.
- Promote and foster departmental goals and objectives. Explain and reinforce the company values and goals to employees with an emphasis on safety.
- Appraise performance, reward and discipline employees, address complaints and resolve problems in a timely manner.
- Assign tasks to subordinate employees to meet company and customer needs; hire qualified personnel as the need arises.
- Prepare departmental budgets and establish procedures and controls to ensure that expenditures are within the company guidelines.
Additional Functions:
- Establish procedures for completing, maintaining and filing all inspection forms and documents used by the Repair Station. .
Perform other duties as assigned. Other Requirements:
- An Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license is required. An A&P license and 4 years of related quality experience (in addition to the experience requirements) may offset the Bachelors degree.
- Possess a comprehensive knowledge of FAR Part 145 and associated guidance materials, Part 43, Part 91, Part 121 and Part 135 as these parts apply to work accomplished under the RS Cert.
- Possess a comprehensive knowledge of interpretations, applications, and procedures for completing FAA paperwork including FARs, FAA Orders, Advisory Circulars, Form 337, Form 8130-3, Form 8110, STCs, and other pertinent paperwork.
- Advanced knowledge of inspection and cert processes, a general working knowledge of the various aircraft, and familiarity with pertinent FARs and tech reference materials.
- Thorough knowledge of quality policies, procedures and all related tech data.
- Ability to work within the various software apps utilized throughout the corp.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
