Giant Eagle is looking for Cafe/Food Prep workers to provide exemplary customer service by greeting customers in the department and ensuring their orders are filled to meet their expectations. Prepared Foods team members are also expected to make suggestions to our customers to enhance their shopping experience.

Cafe/Food Prep team members will perform the following duties:

• Become familiar with products in the store to answer questions and make suggestions to customers.
• Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner, whether the encounter takes place in the team member’s designated department or elsewhere in the store.
• Properly handle products and equipment in accordance with food safety and safety guidelines to ensure a safe shopping environment.
• Replenish product in the prepared foods cases, rotating product and ensuring code dating procedures are followed.
• Accurately record special orders on prepared foods products to ensure the customer is delighted with the finished product.
• Maintain cleanliness of department and work area, including the back room.
• Assist in maintaining prepared foods cooler and freezer efficiency by unloading deliveries.
• Rotate and check code dates on products to ensure customers safety.
• Assist in other areas as required.

• Our ideal candidate is comfortable working in a busy grocery store environment, using fryers, hot ovens, coolers, and freezers. No High School diploma is required, and 0-6 months experience is ideal.

Learn the history of Giant Eagle and how our foundation of passion, hard work, innovation and competitive spirit helped us become a grocery store that has continued to demonstrate the values of family and community for four generations. Three families — Goldstein, Porter and Chait — build a small grocery company called Eagle Grocery. The business is a success, and the Eagle chain expands to 125 stores. In 1928, the families sell Eagle Grocery to the Kroger Company. As part of their arrangement with Kroger, the families agree to leave the grocery business for three years. In the meantime, two families — Moravitz and Weizenbaum — had been building their own successful chain of grocery stores named OK Grocery. In 1931, the five families—Goldstein, Porter, Chait, Moravitz and Weizenbaum — combine forces to form Giant Eagle. The first Giant Eagle supermarket opens on Brownsville Road in 1936. Throughout the 30s and 40s, through the hardships of the Great Depression and World War II, the chain of Giant Eagle supermarkets and OK Grocery Food Stores grows steadily throughout Pittsburgh-area neighborhoods.
