The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and developing a team of skilled mechanical design engineers as they advance the state-of-the-art in compressor mechanical design and technology, including for our RISE technology programs. This people leader role reports to the Section Leader for Advanced Mechanical Design.The hybrid schedule consists of working in the office minimum of 3 days per week and the option to work from home on the other days, based on team/project schedules.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical design of aircraft engine compression systems using sound engineering principles while adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and program requirements.
- Manage a small- to medium-sized team of design engineers. Influence the development of strategy in compressor design and technology, including control of resources and influences policy formulation.
- Uses high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas relevant to engineering work in advanced compressor mechanical design, such as operational, product management, manufacturing, technology engineering tasks. Assess the quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders. Offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and is able to construct and provide recommendations. Use multiple internal and some external sources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.
- May lead functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. Communicates difficult concepts and may influence others' options on particular topics. May guide others to consider a different point of view.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering or a related discipline
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in mechanical design
