Overview:
This position collects data, conducts statistical analyses and/or fundamental research, and completes studies in support of the Capital Management Group’s (“CMG”) equity portfolio management capabilities. Provides crucial insight into investment opportunities, portfolios, and processes through quantitative or fundamental research. Answers inquiries and internal client concerns in facilitating portfolio management efforts. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to - idea generation for the equity strategies, stock specific research and drivers of stock performance, industry research including potential addressable market analysis (TAM) to assess company-specific upside opportunities, quantitative research, factor research and attribution, risk modeling, and overall macroeconomic research.
Responsibilities:
- Research - Performs detailed research in order to provide relevant, accurate and clear information to portfolio management associates. This may include (depending on team/strategy) quantitative or fundamental data analysis on individual companies, industry analyses, and company calls/outlooks. Maintains and works within a screening framework and/or scoring model designed to identify/rank stocks. Identifies key stock drivers, risk/reward, positives/negatives, among other criteria. The candidate should be familiar with equity statistical data and financial statement analysis and should be proficient with discounted cash flow analysis.
- Portfolio Management - Makes buy, sell, and hold recommendations internally to portfolio managers within applicable guidelines. Conducts research on individual stocks, sectors, and macroeconomics. Enhances controls and oversees risk management reconciliations. Assists management in handling investment for a group of clients/strategies. Takes the lead on projects designed to enhance the team’s defined investment decision making processes. Assists equity team in addressing internal client questions and concerns on investment and portfolio management matters. Provide updates on market data, sentiment, and the overall trading environment as necessary. The candidate should be organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to provide idea generation as well as suggestions on improving process and decision-making. Portfolio Managers and other team members will provide mentorship and guidance in research and analysis.
- Business Support - Assists in the ongoing review and monitoring of investments through reporting, system automation, and the integration of performance or risk management processes. Assist with client concentrated equity holdings and perform analysis as needed. Maintain records and documentation of research. A successful candidate is collaborative and comfortable working within a team environment.
Open to hiring an Equity Research Analyst I or II depending on experience. Raleigh or Boston ONLY location.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of experience in Investment or Financial industry OR High School Diploma or GED and 6 years of experience in Investment or Financial industry
Preferred Education: Bachelor or Master Degree

- Bloomberg and/or FactSet
