Overview:
This position manages a complex loan portfolio of problem relationships. Evaluates credit risk, financial statements, and loan collateral to develop and execute resolution strategies. Approves modifications, renewals, or other status changes to restructure loans appropriately after evaluations. Coordinates with borrowers, legal counsel, and other key parties to resolve problem credits while minimizing losses. Maintains a functional portfolio review process to identify and recommend status changes in a timely and accurate fashion. Effectively communicates recommendations and reporting to Bank management. May supervise less experienced associates in the work group.
-hybrid position min 3 days a week - Raleigh, NC. We have some flexibility for a remote arrangement, but travel to the office, clients and other needs will be necessary on occasion-
Responsibilities:
- Portfolio Management - Manages an assigned portfolio of complex commercial, business, or Small Business Administration substandard graded relationships, building an adequate credit profile to determine initial and long-term resolution strategy. Evaluates loan documentation, credit analysis, and financial information to identify weaknesses that require immediate attention. Creates or revises existing resolutions strategies. Approves modifications, forbearance agreements, and renewals. Identifies and documents troubled debt restructures, recommending status changes as appropriate. Works directly with borrowers, Bank counsel, and other appropriate parties to negotiate and resolve problem credits. Influences the market team for support on resolution strategies, and collaborates with analysts on annual reviews.
- Loan Expertise - Remains current on regulations, compliance requirements, Bank policies, and procedures. Exhibits a thorough knowledge of current bankruptcy laws, loan impairment process, and restructure strategies. May serve as a resource to wider business units on the appropriate structuring and monitoring of loan portfolios.
- Reporting - Monitors assigned portfolios to report losses or significant changes. Records all actions, conversations, and financial information in department portfolio or loan management system. Presents cases to Special Assets Committee as needed.
- Business Support - Manages credit, operational, reputational, regulatory, and legal risks related to personal interactions, customer transactions and financial exposures. May serve on review teams or assist with department training efforts.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of experience in Commercial Resolution or Small Business Administration OR High School Diploma or GED and 10 years of experience in Commercial Resolution or Small Business Administration
Preferred - 3+ years experience servicing substandard portfolios in banking/financial services industry.
