Overview:
This position will play a key role in Regulatory Relations centralized oversight function by ensuring complex internal information from multiple internal business partners flows efficiently and effectively to primary regulators of First Citizens BancShares, Inc. and its subsidiaries. The Risk Manager is responsible for overseeing supervisory activities, including regulatory examinations, and providing expertise to ensure the activities are well-coordinated and well-managed. The role requires strong working knowledge of banking regulations, especially those applicable to large financial institutions, and experience with regulatory examination management activities and the regulatory issue lifecycle. The Risk Manager must have the ability to develop effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders by building trust and credibility through strong interpersonal skills, clear communication and consistent actions. This position is responsible for managing and overseeing associates involved in providing expertise and centralized coordination for supervisory activities, primarily related to liquidity, capital management and resiliency.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee all aspects of regulatory exams, reviews and continuous monitoring activities, ensuring complex internal information from multiple business partners flows effectively and efficiently to primary regulatory
- Maintain strong working knowledge of banking regulations and expectations for risk management for large financial institutions
- Use high degree of judgment to review, address and resolve complex issues with internal stakeholders, providing expertise during the issue management lifecycle
- Working with senior leaders and all levels of the organization to build trust and credibility through strong interpersonal skills, clear communication and consistent actions
- Build effective regulatory relationships with during supervisory interactions
- Supervise associates to drive consistent, high quality results while meeting regulatory deadlines
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of experience in Operational Risk Management and Enterprise Risk Management, or regulatory guidance pertaining to Enterprise and Operational Risk (e.g. FDIC, risk and control frameworks like COSO, Basel) OR High School Diploma or GED and 12 years of experience in Operational Risk Management and Enterprise Risk Management, or regulatory guidance pertaining to Enterprise and Operational Risk (e.g. FDIC, risk and control frameworks like COSO, Basel)
Preferred Education: Advanced Degree
Skill(s): Knowledge of operational and enterprise risk management including identification, assessment, and escalation of risk issues, Ability to track and coordinate large, complex processes, Knowledge of regulatory guidance pertaining to enterprise and operational risk as well as risk control frameworks, PC Skills including Microsoft Visio, Excel, and PowerPoint
