Overview:
This is a hybrid role that can only be based in New York City, Morristown, NJ or Raleigh, NC with the expectation that time working will regularly take place inside and outside of a company office.
The First Line Risk Specialist is responsible for assisting with the support through analysis, consulting, and communication with the Business Unit (BU) on risk activities by gathering and analyzing risk related data. Ensures timely identification and escalation of risks and issues and consults with BU management surrounding key risk management issues to ensure the efficient and accurate execution of risk programs.
Responsibilities:
- Risk Analysis- Generates, analyzes, and utilities BU Risk Reports to identify potential risks that may impact the BU and provides any needed clarification. Continuously tracks and reports on key indicators and limits and to ensure timely escalation of breaches as required by the Risk Appetite Framework (RAF). Assists in review of internal controls, ensuring control testing is in place and results are in line with the Control Standards.
- Risk Operational Support- Maintains sufficient knowledge of business operations, risks, controls and related laws and regulatory guidance. Participates in mandatory risk training and educates BU associates on key risk programs and topics. Ensures that risks are identified, escalated, and mitigated in a timely manner.
- Risk Governance- Assists with the implementation of program policies, standards, and procedures. May assist with the preparation for external audits and provides materials to regulators as needed. Monitors and ensures the incorporation of Risk Limits into core BU processes.
- Collaboration- Effectively collaborates with the BU to identify and analyze risk considerations. Works to resolve issues for the BU (corrective action, issue tracking, and reporting etc.), including Risk Appetite.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and 1 years of experience in Enterprise Risk or Operational Risk, and Project Management OR High School Diploma or GED and 5 years of experience in Enterprise Risk or Operational Risk, and Project Management
Commercial Banking experience
Skill(s): Knowledge of risk techniques, practices, and control frameworks, Knowledge of various banking and government regulatory requirements and processes , Ability to work effectively with associates, senior management, and various committees, Knowledge of regulatory guidance pertaining to enterprise risk and operational risk
If hired in NY, the base pay for this position is generally between $88,000 and $120,000. If hired in Morristown, NJ, the base pay for this position is generally between $85,000 and $110,000. If hired in Raleigh, NC, the base pay for this position is generally between $74,000 and $100,000. Actual starting base pay will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. For some roles, total compensation may also include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and/or other awards as outlined in the offer of employment.
