About the team and the role:
On the Personalization team within eBay’s Core Product Design organization, we’re building new ways to tailor experiences to unique passions, specialized interests, shopping preferences, and individual values. Through understanding what people like, connecting them to enthusiast-communities, and helping them discover more of those treasures only found on eBay—the best personalized experiences make shopping feel expertly curated and delightfully individualized.
The Staff Product Designer is an individual contributor and a thought leader within the Personalization Design team and the Core Product Organization overall. They will lead both the vision and execution of eBay’s first explicit preferences interaction design framework—working closely with product and engineering leaders—they will bridge silos to build beautiful, holistic experiences that scale eBay’s diverse global marketplace.
What you will accomplish:
Design a 0-1 experience, building on existing insights, concepts, patterns, and adjacent strategies
Lead the alignment of cross functional leadership around an immediate-term roadmap of explicit preferences and a longer-term vision for personalized shopping on eBay
Leverage your professional expertise and deep craft to contribute to the mentorship and growth of other designers on the team
Contribute to the development of design capabilities at eBay, to help the organization build cohesive, seamless, shopping experiences across platforms
What you will bring:
10+ years of professional product design and leadership experience, preferably within complex ecosystems, leading the vision and execution of end-to-end customer experiences hands-on
Deep passion for craft in product and interaction design, with continued investment in sharpening your tools and adding new ones to your belt as you’ve grown
Portfolio demonstrating excellence in storytelling, design strategy, product design craft, and the ability to inspire others to help you achieve ambitious goals
Experience collaborating directly with product managers, content designers, researchers, and engineers to design product solutions as a team
High-degree of comfort with data-driven decision-making; leveraging product analytics and User Experience Research to create and evaluate design hypotheses, iterating to reach solutions that work best for customers
Growth mindset; a willingness to approach ambiguities, new experiences, and challenges as opportunities to learn and grow together
Comfort with a hybrid work schedule, 3 days per week in eBay’s office
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment in California, Washington, or New York is expected in the range below.
$149,200 - $234,850Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
