Duke Nursing Highlights:
Assume responsi bilities for direct nursing care of assigned patientsunder the supervisi on of a registered nurse or physician in patient carearea. Provides nurs ing services to patients and families in accordancewith the scope of the LPN as defined by the North Carolina Board ofNursing.
Provide and document direct nursing care of assigned patients under thesupervision of a registered nurse or physician. Nursin g care is guidedby the physician orders and the nursing plan of care. Pa tient responseto care is reported to a registered nurse for evaluation, interventionand modification of the plan of care. Assist other health ca re personnelin the delivery of patient care.Assist physicians and other nursing personnel in the performance ofvarious diagnostic procedures.Eva luate nursing care with emphasis on nursing procedures and patientrespon ses; assist in the delivery of nursing care and selection ofnursing prio rities.Assist in the development and implementation of general policies andprocedures to provide for the emotional and physical comfort and safe tyof patients; participate in the formulation of new policies.Participat e in maintaining the environment of care including equipmentand other ma terial resources.Participate in the identification of clinical or operat ional performanceimprovement opportunities and assists in performance im provementactivities.Assist with control of material resources and mainte nance; assist inappraisal of effectiveness of material and equipment and report anyequipment malfunctions to charge nurse.Participate in in-serv ice education programs and other conferenceswithin the service.Assist in the training of new employees.Perform other related duties incidental t o the work described herein.
