The Critical Facilities Technician II will assist with the planning, operation, and maintenance of the Critical Facilities infrastructure. This role must deliver the facility availability that the business requires for all electrical, mechanical, and other building systems that support the network hardware installed in the facilities.Responsibilities include planning, build, and preventative maintenance for the following disciplines: generators, HVAC, AC/DC Power Systems, cabinets, and infrastructure. Other systems include but are not limited to, extensive building monitoring and environmental control, water treatment, fire detection and suppression. Other key tasks also performed are Work Package execution and database management.
Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions
- Able to demonstrate a basic understanding of core technologies to include but not limited to power systems, environmental systems, fire detection, and suppression systems.
- Assists with regulatory, risk management, and security compliance inspections. Prepares documentation and service records.
- Assists or performs routine building inspections to comply with Cox standards, assist with future project planning, identifying, and repairing issues found during inspection.
- Monitors and maintains critical facilities for environmental, fire detection and suppression, and power systems integrity Implements repairs, as necessary.
- Responds to alarms or outage notifications, analyzes, and troubleshoots problems for quick resolution in conjunction with regional or enterprise-wide Network Operations Centers (NOCs) to restore service or escalate the issue as appropriate.
- Coordinates and accompanies vendors performing work at or within the critical facilities. Included but not limited to providing access to critical facilities and ensuring quality of work to ensure alignment with best practices and related building codes.
- Assists with the planning, preparation, and execution of projects and preventative maintenance, to include but not limited to power systems, environmental systems, fire suppression and detection, building infrastructure, and exterior upgrades.
- Assists or performs Project execution using various tools and documentation to include but not limited to WATTS, Engineering Work Packages (EWP) Oracle Struxurware & FIRM.
- Assists with dashboard reports to update leadership on all critical facility infrastructure issues.
- Assists with keeping supplies ready by maintaining appropriate inventory of stock, placing orders when necessary, and verifying receipt through Oracle/WATTS or other means.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading technical publications, and taking advantage of other training opportunities.
- Maintains safe work environment by following codes, standards, and legal regulations. This includes, but is not necessarily limited to fire suppression, security access systems, HVAC, PPE, OSHA
- Implements Workflow work orders and is familiar with Remedy and able to create Remedy tickets
- Participates in the completion of PIR's as needed.
- May participate in a stand-by rotation to provide 24/7 coverage.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum
- High School Diploma/GED and 3 years' experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as any level degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED in a related discipline; or 5 years' experience in a related field.
- Project Management experience and/or experience in related field.
- Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills to work effectively with internal and external partners
- Valid local State Driver's License and driving record that meets Cox standards
Preferred
- AS/AA or Technical Certification in related discipline desired (i.e., HVAC, electronics, etc.).
- Previous exposure to critical facilities infrastructure
- Knowledge of layout of Telecomm Facilities
- Working knowledge of Cox specifications as they relate to all Telecomm Facilities
- Experience in telecommunications industry desired.
- Understanding of telecom facility and environmental planned maintenance and monitoring needs
- 1 or more years of experience preferred in related field (i.e., HVAC, powering, facilities maintenance, generators, fire suppression, and facility monitoring control systems etc.)
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 80 pounds regularly
- Ability to safely climb ladders (6'-14') while carrying 40 pounds
- Ability to work from a bucket truck or other aerial lifts
- Ability to identify and respond quickly to sounds / alarms
- Ability to see and respond to dangerous situations
- Ability to work safely around live AC/DC Power Plant
- Ability to wear personal protective gear correctly
- Ability to work in extreme weather
- Ability to stand for extended period
- Ability to stoop over for extended period
- Ability to kneel or work on knees for extended period
