Cox Communications is searching for a
Network Planning Engineer II who will be responsible for analyzing and modeling needs for network capacity and Plan-Of-Intent for Integrated Network Planning organization. This role will be responsible for the following:
Network Monitoring and Capacity Planning:
- Strong understanding of fundamental foundation of DOCSIS, PON, Metro and Backbone Network
- Collaborate with multiple stakeholders to gather and understand capacity requirement for network connectivity, utilization and performance.
- Analyze current network usage and predict future capacity needs for the next 18-24 months by building network capacity and forecasting models
- Identify potential bottlenecks and plan for necessary upgrades or expansions.
Capacity Requirement Analysis:
- Strong understanding of Cox access, metro and backbone network as well Hardware, Software, Licenses, and capacity limitation of each network component
- Assess and determine appropriate network technologies, capacity needs, protocols, and topologies based on business needs and best practices for various network platforms, including MPLS, IP, and Optical Networks.
- Develop recommendations for capacity upgrades and augments based on data driven forecast and forecasting models
- Build BOM (Bill of Material) based on vendor specific design and pricing
Network Planning Expert:
- Become the go-to expert for the network planning process, which involves creating tactical plans for network growth based on Company's vision and strategy
- Develop and maintain detailed plans to ensure the network can support future growth and new services leveraging change management process
- Based on the plans and BOMs, build and clearly communicate financial estimate
Leadership and Coordination:
- Lead and coordinate planning activities to support INP (Integrated Network Planning) initiatives.
- Host regular planning meetings with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and progress.
- Provide clear and concise communication to stakeholders regarding planning activities and outcomes.
Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in network technology.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices.
- Participate in training and development activities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Related Tasks
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Work with Engineering, EMO, FE&O, Product, Marketing and Finance to drive planning initiatives and requirements.
- Ensure stakeholder needs and expectations are met through effective planning and communication.
- Foster strong working relationships with vendors, partners, and regulatory bodies.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Create detailed reports on network performance, capacity needs, and planning activities.
- Maintain thorough documentation of all planning processes, decisions, and actions.
- Present findings and recommendations to senior management and other stakeholders.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or Technology related field and 2 years' experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and up to 2 years' experience; or 6 years' experience in a related field
- Experience in Telecommunication, MSO or Cable Industry
- Robust communication, interpersonal, and collaborative skills
- Experience in researching and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data
- Experience working with large data sets, analysis and methods
- Experience developing automated reporting
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite applications in a work setting with strong knowledge in Excel
- Robust communication, interpersonal, and collaborative skills
Preferred:
- 2+ years of operational and capacity planning associated with service delivery platforms.
- Extensive working knowledge in premises networking technologies platforms and managed services
- Proven effective collaboration experience working with Product, Strategy, and Field Services to develop technology roadmaps and deliver project objectives
- Knowledge of Optical Network Engineering
USD 77,800.00 - 116,800.00 per year
Compensation:Compensation includes a base salary of $77,800.00 - $116,800.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.
