Cox Communications is currently seeking an Enterprise Application Engineer II to serve as a subject matter expert (SME) in application support. The chosen candidate will be responsible for deploying and providing ongoing support for complex network systems management and testing applications and solutions. Successful execution of these responsibilities will require a strong grasp of database management, proficiency in both Windows and Linux operating systems, and expertise in at least one programming language.
Primary responsibilities
- Configure, optimize, document, and support high-level software components of Data Support Systems (DSS) software products.
- Support and troubleshoot scalability, high availability, performance, and monitoring of production environments, providing necessary backup and platform restoration.
- Collaborate with engineers and QA to ensure timely resolution of issues and deployment of fixes.
- Create and maintain deployment-specific support documentation, ensuring appropriate distribution.
- Track issues effectively in ticket management systems like JIRA or ServiceNow.
- Integrate proactive monitoring using standard tools and identify additional monitoring requirements to enhance solution uptime.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, with a minimum of 2 years' experience in a relevant domain. Alternatively, a candidate could possess a master's degree with up to 2 years' experience, or 6 years' experience in a related field.
- Robust knowledge of networking technologies, database technologies, and systems monitoring tools and practices.
- Profound understanding of various network architectures with a strong troubleshooting background.
- In-depth familiarity with Linux and open-source-based applications, as well as the deployment of distributed architectures and infrastructure.
- Experience in supporting applications deployed in public or private cloud environments.
Preferred:
- Strongly desired BS/BA in related disciplines such as Information Technology, Information Management, or Computer Engineering.
- Familiarity with platforms such as Big Panda, New Relic, Splunk, and Elastic.
- Progressive experience within the telecommunications industry.
- Experience in deploying and supporting EMS/NMP platforms like Nokia, Calix, Adva, Accedian, or Spirent.
- Proficient scripting skills in Python, Shell, SQL, or NETCONF/YAML.
- Extensive experience with automation tools like Ansible, Jenkins, and Artifactory.
- Possession of one of the following certifications: Red Hat Certified System Engineer (RHCE), Certification in IT Service Management (ITSM), ISTQB Advanced Test Automation Engineer, Cloud Technologies, AWS Certified Solution Architect, MCSE: Cloud Platform and Infrastructure, Certified OpenStack Administrator (COA), Cloud Certified Professional, etc.
USD 77,800.00 - 116,800.00 per year
Compensation:Compensation includes a base salary of $77,800.00 - $116,800.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.
