Mobility is seeking an experienced Software Development Manager to lead our back-end services team for our e-dispatch and data analytics platform. You are passionate about technology; you have worked as a developer who has moved into a management role. You are comfortable working alongside architects and product managers to lead your team in delivering scalable, secure, and quality products.From a technical perspective, you are experienced with Java for creating a services-oriented backend. You have first-hand knowledge of building systems in the cloud, with bonus points for AWS. You have a good understanding of how data works and linked for reporting.As a manager, you have experience working with distributed teams in multiple time zones, with a mix of contractors and FTEs, you're experienced in tracking work activities using Rally and SCRUM agile methodologies.
Key job responsibilities
- Manage a team of high caliber Software Development Engineers building solutions for E-dispatch, Data & Reporting in the mobility ecosystem
- Manage and execute against project plans and deliver commitments within a professional, high paced engineering environment
- Interface with our internal/external customers to understand requirements, set priorities, and communicate direction and progress
- Own all operational metrics and support for your teams' software
- Drive improvements in software engineering practices
Basic qualifications
- 3+ years of experience working directly within engineering teams
- Experience partnering with product OR program management teams
- 3+ years of people management experience, managing engineers
- 3+ years of experience architecting and designing (architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and current systems
Preferred qualifications
- Requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, computer information systems, computer engineering, or related field and 6 years of experience in the position offered or 6 years of experience performing object-oriented design. In lieu of a bachelor's degree, a master's degree in the aforementioned fields and 4 years of experience as stated or a Ph.D. or foreign equivalent in the aforementioned fields and 1 year of experience as stated.
- Solid software development background including design patterns, data structures, and test driven development
- Ability to handle multiple, competing priorities in a fast-paced environment, and navigate ambiguity
- A deep understanding of the software development life-cycle, and a track record of shipping software on time
- Experience designing software architectures for scalability, reliability, and performance
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- A passion for people management and mentorship
USD 117,300.00 - 195,500.00 per year
Compensation:Compensation includes a base salary of $117,300.00 - $195,500.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.
