Job Summary
Organizes schedules for computerized tomography (CT) staff, while the manager maintains overall responsibility for the accuracy of the employee schedule. Oversees day to day floor operations within CT, monitors quality and coordinates education opportunities during these operations. Monitors customer and employee satisfaction results, looking for trends and identifying opportunities for improvement. Assists manager with payroll duties as assigned. Reviews supply and purchase of materials used in department operation and looks for cost effective changes. Contacts service personnel and notifies management of malfunctioning equipment. Monitors and tracks education requirements for employees, as assigned. Plans and organizes CT and related services on assigned shift to assure that all examinations are expeditiously processed and meet all standards of quality and safety. Schedules and assigns employees based on workload, patient schedules, experience, and availability. May lead special projects assigned by leadership.
Essential Functions
- Assumes all charge responsibilities in the absence of the manager. Assumes lead responsibilities for daily quality control, enforcement of radiology policies, and adherence to all procedure policies.
- Obtains and verifies patients’ clinical history, ensuring that information is documented and readily available to the licensed practitioner. Prepares and administers contrast media and / or medications as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
- Completes proper patient identification and order verification. Prepares patients for procedures, providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety. Selects proper technical factors and operates equipment and accessories as directed. Positions patients and equipment to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort.
- Evaluates images and data for technical quality, manipulates display parameters, and pushes images to picture archiving and communication system (PACS) as the accepted electronic format for permanent patient record, assuring proper patient identification is evident.
- Assists with performing quality studies on new and / or difficult exams so that they meet the requirements of established protocols.
- Supports objectives set by imaging specialist and leadership. Assists in the scheduling of trials and applications by vendors in collaboration with imaging specialist and leadership. Assists imaging specialist and leadership in credentialing and competencies set forth by Spectrum Health and various regulatory agencies.
- Provides the Supervisor/Manager input regarding employee performance.
- May be asked to participate in the interview process of new applicants.
Qualifications
- Required Associate's Degree or equivalent in health care or related field
- Preferred Associate's Degree or equivalent in health care or related field
- 5 years of relevant experience as CT Technologist Required
- CRT-Radiologic Technologist Registration - ARRT American Registry of Radiologic Technologist Upon Hire required
- CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association Upon Hire required Or
- CRT-Basic Life Support Instructor (BLS INSTR) - ARC American Red Cross Upon Hire required
