Corewell Health West Women’s and Infant Services includes six community hospitals as well as Butterworth Hospital, a tertiary care center recognized as High Performing in maternity care by US News and World Report. The service line performs over 10,000 deliveries annually. Corewell Health Butterworth offers maternal fetal medicine care, a fetal care center, and the partnership of the Helen DeVos Childrens’ Hospital NICU. The Women’s and Infant Services Clinical Nurse Specialist will support all seven locations with labor and delivery, postpartum and newborn care.

Scope of work
The Clinical Nurse Specialist is an influential leader for a program or area of nursing practice. The advanced knowledge and skills required for this role include clinical expertise in a labor and delivery, postpartum, antepartum, and newborn care, evidence-based practice, collaboration, consultation, education, mentoring and change leadership. The specialized knowledge and advanced practice nursing skills are used within three major areas of impact: patient/family, nurses and nursing practice and the organization/system.
In collaboration with other members of the health care team, the CNS leads, provides, enhances and improves health care delivery by evaluating nursing practices, developing methodologies, establishing standards of care and providing consultative services. The CNS is a clinical expert in the theory-based and/or research-based nursing practice within a specialty area.Clinical Nurse Specialists are REQUIRED to obtain their nursing administration or professional/specialty certification within 12 months of assuming the role, or within 12 months of achieving eligibility to sit for the exam if not eligible upon hire in to the role.
