Overview:
This position is accountable to evaluate and treat all patients referred for Occupational Therapy services, to assist in their return to optimal functional abilities, and to prevent additional disability. This includes communication with physicians and other health care personnel to assist in providing quality patient care.

Responsibilities:
Completes patient evaluations, treatments, reassessments and documentation/charging; Independently and accurately selects and performs appropriate evaluation and reassessment techniques; Independently sets appropriate goals; Plans and implements therapy in a manner to achieve patient goals; Autonomously and appropriately modifies session in response to changes in patient status, environment, and discharge plan; Independently recognizes need for and initiates discharge from therapy services and independently recommends and initiates referral to appropriate venue for additional therapy services; Provides effective and thorough patient/family/caregiver education throughout the patient's therapy program; Supports safe, appropriate, effective and efficient patient care by providing accurate, thorough and timely documentation that consistently meets departmental requirements; Charges appropriately for treatment provided; Charges are completed in a timely manner.--------------------------------------------------Time Management: Maintains individual productivity at standard; If productivity does not meet target, initiates and follows through on problem solving with supervisor to increase productivity; Independently and effectively manages caseload and other work to assure timely completion; Proactively identifies need to change schedule throughout day to accommodate new priorities; Recognizes team workload and proactively offers/seeks assistance to assure timely completion of team's work and achievement of department and organizational goals; Efficiently plans therapy sessions to maximize outcomes.--------------------------------------------------Teamwork/Flexibility: Considers team priorities for the day when managing own schedule/caseload; Consistently offers or seeks help based on the needs of the team and overall caseload/priorities; Works with team to delegate appropriate patients/tasks to other team members to free self for professional duties (i.e. delegate to PTA to perform evaluations; gives tasks to front office staff to allow patient care); Consistently utilizes non-patient care time by offering assistance to team members; Frequently and consistently adjusts schedule throughout the day to meet department or patient needs (related to call-outs, influx of new orders, etc.); Consistently offers to flex schedule to support the goals/needs of the department (gives back flex days, picks up extra weekends, works extra around holidays or during high census); Works with team members and leadership to ensure optimal utilization of resources including technical staff; Willingly changes rotations during the year to accommodate team needs; For Supplemental position: works with leadership to address department/system needs for overall caseload/priorities; frequently and willingly adjusts schedule throughout day and on day-to-day basis to address system needs.--------------------------------------------------Professional Communication: Consistently communicates positively and effectively with all members of the healthcare team to support exceptional patient care; Consistently communicates with department leadership; Communicates appropriate information when delegating patients/tasks to other therapists, assistants, technicians and front office staff; Maintains open communication with assistants regarding patient needs, progress, etc.; Provides feedback to others as indicated and in a professional manner.--------------------------------------------------Clinical practice development: Seeks constructive feedback regarding his/her own practice and uses this feedback to make practice changes; Assists with orientation and training of new staff, demonstrates an ongoing commitment to improve the performance and skill of co-workers; Serves as a preceptor to new employees on a routine basis; Demonstrates knowledge of national standards of practice; Incorporates these into practice and holds self and others accountable for practicing according to these standards; Attends continuing education, reviews literature and uses current research findings to improve and promote continual development of knowledge; Incorporates new learning into practice; May serve as an effective clinical instructor for students.--------------------------------------------------

REQUIREDBLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare ProviderRequired: Licensed by North Carolina Occupational Therapy BoardPREFERRED- Additional certifications may be preferred depending on clinical requirements.- If driving a Cone Health vehicle, 5 years of driving experience, MVR must be approved by Risk Management. |
