The dietitian has responsibility for providing individualized medical nutrition therapy for patients/residents within Cone Health. The position requires application of professional knowledge of clinical nutrition and serves patients in the age categories of neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric. |

Responsibilities:Complete nutritional assessments of patients and documents results using the Nutrition Care Process and the Nutrition Focused Physical Exam. Calculate patients nutritional needs based on accepted Standards of Care. Make daily decisions independently but obtain input from RDII, RDIII, Lead Registered Dietitian or Clinical Nutrition Manager for complicated cases or issues--------------------------------------------------Plan and document Medical Nutrition Therapy for patients in conjunction with the multidisciplinary plan of care--------------------------------------------------Initiate nutrition interventions. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of nutrition interventions. Document the achievement of measurable nutrition goals. --------------------------------------------------Serve as a nutrition resource to departmental and organizational staff and train dietetic interns and nutrition students--------------------------------------------------Participate in quality improvement activities within the clinical nutrition team, the nutritional services department and other areas of the health system--------------------------------------------------Participate in continuing education activities that enhance the delivery of medical nutrition therapy, pro-actively seek the latest information regarding nutrition therapy, routinely assess knowledge, skills, and abilities for self-development and goal setting-------------------------------------------------- |

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING: |
REQUIREDBLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider Certification as a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist (RDN) as issued by the Commission on Dietetic Registration AND Licensure as a Dietitian/Nutritionist as issued by the NCBDN. OR completion of a Supervised Practice Program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) as evidenced by an original Verification Statement supplied by the Program Director in a color ink other than black and dated within the previous 12 months PLUS a provisional license from the North Carolina Board of Dietetics/Nutrition (NCBDN) must be obtained prior to starting employment in conjunction with the original verification statement. The incumbent must become registered and licensed within 6 months of employment.PREFERRED |
