The Pharmacy Technician II Certified Acute Care works under the moderate supervision of a registered pharmacist and performs a variety of tasks including but not limited to aseptic compounding activities required to dispense IV compounding prescriptions and/or, recording medication histories, and/or activities required to receive, dispense, and deliver non-controlled and controlled medications to provide quality, safe patient care. |
Performs various tasks which may include compounding hazardous and non-hazardous IV medications, evaluating for accuracy and/or preparing, distributing, and disposing of medication in compliance with current standards under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist and/or interviewing patients to obtain an accurate and complete medication history based on organization standard.Navigates electronic medical records to gather pertinent information to assist with pharmacy activities.Operates pharmacy systems technology and automation to assist with medication preparation.Completes medication regulatory and compliance activities.Communicates effectively with other health care professionals and delivers quality customer service.Serves as a mentor in the training and orientation of new employees.Performs other duties as assigned. |
EDUCATION: |
Required: High School Diploma or equivalent |
EXPERIENCE: |
Required: 2 years or Successful completion (graduation) of CH accredited technician training program |
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING: |
Pharmacy Technician certification through PTCB or NHA prior to hire. Registered with the NC Board of Pharmacy within 30 days of hire. |
