Registered Nurse (RN) - Same Day Surgery
A caregiver in this position works a day/evening rotation. Eight-hour shifts will begin at 11:00am or 10:00am and twelve-hour shift would be 09:00am – 21:30pm.
May be required to provide vacation coverage for 13:00pm-21:30pm shift. Saturday rotation requirements (one to two Saturdays every two to three months from 06:00am – 14:30pm). Primary responsibility is Phase II recovery. Will also learn Preop and Phase I recovery.

Mercy Hospital’s Same Day Surgery Unit handles less complicated surgeries that require an overnight hospital stay. A high percentage of these patients have their surgery and go home the same day. The RN in this role will primarily be responsible for Phase II recovery but will also learn Preop and Phase I recovery.
A caregiver in this position works a day/evening rotation of 11:00AM – 7:30PM or 9:00AM – 9:30PM with Saturday rotation requirements (one to two Saturdays every two to three months from 6:00AM – 2:30PM).
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide direct nursing care.
Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.
Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions.
Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
Educate patients and their families.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
One-year of current acute care RN experience. Will consider military RN experience.
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN).
