Clean Harbors is looking for a VP Central Environmental Compliance to join our safety conscious team! The VP is responsible for developing and implementing the organization's positions on environmental policy issues regarding the impact of the organization's operations on water, air and land quality. The VP will also implement programs to ensure healthy and safe working conditions and compliance with all environmental regulations. The role will be directing a team supporting all centralized reporting, permitting and compliance business initiatives, tools and tracking systems.
Preferred location for this position is Norwell.

- Participate in the development and implementation of compliance policies and procedures.
- Provide leadership to the Central Compliance Team coordinating efforts and execution of permitting, reporting and compliance analytics supporting the facility operations.
- Leverage technology to evaluate compliance programs, waste tracking information and other data to identify and evaluate environmental compliance.
- Oversee general effectiveness of regulatory compliance initiatives by conducting comprehensive reviews of operational systems.
- Implement and participate in corporate compliance initiatives providing guidance, expertise and research when needed.
- Support facility compliance managers with operational compliance initiatives.
- Recommend environmental improvement programs and solutions to regulatory challenges, based on proven successful practices.
- Communicate significant regulatory issues to the SVP of Environmental Compliance, as necessary. Provide follow-up and ensure that regulatory compliance is achieved in a timely manner.
- Prepare compliance key performance indicator reports for executive management review.
- Prepare reports and maintain workpapers and related supporting documentation in accordance with professional standards.
- Provide continual staff development (training, guidance, technical support) to all subordinate staff personnel to ensure they will have the tools to be effective in their positions.
- Design and implement a comprehensive compliance assurance program in accordance with Federal, State, Local, and Provincial laws and company policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Technical or Physical Science Field (or relevant to the role), advanced degree is a plus.
- 10-15 years of relevant experience, including supervising a team.
- Expert knowledge of Federal, State and Provincial regulations, including EPA (RCRA, SARA/CERCLA, TSCA, CWA, and CAA), OSHA and DOT (Canadian regulatory equivalents are a plus).
- Computer literate and have proficient written and oral skills.
- Must be available for travel (including overnight) to facilities as well as for meetings and assigned tasks as needed.
