Summary:
The Immigration Specialist Senior manages U. S. immigration services to Associates, providing case management in connection with outside counsel, facilitating documentation, and resolving issues in a timely and sensitive manner. The Senior Immigration Specialist partners with the recruiting team, managers, and internal legal and external immigration counsel on all phases of individual immigration cases including employee contact, documentation, communication, and compliance. With a focus on successful outcomes and providing strong customer service, the Senior Immigration Specialist assesses case strategy, aligns and interprets company policy, completes and files immigration paperwork, coordinates responses to requests for evidence, and tracks and reports on case status. You will assess the business needs against current established processes, adapting and implementing change management strategies as appropriate.
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIESResponsible for coordinating all US immigration processes, including Immigrant Visa matters such as PERM, I-140, and AOS filings and Non-Immigrant visa matters such as H-1B, F-1, TN, L-1, O-1, and E-1,2, & 3; in addition to working across regions to secure non-US visa matters.
Own the US Employment-Based Immigration providing consultation on all programs, timelines, and specific requirements for each visa type, collecting and reviewing documentation; job descriptions, resumes, and other pertinent information.
Creating monthly reports and updates to provide information to ministries on trends and costs.
Support the full life cycle of the Green Card process while collaborating with HR Business Partners, immigration lawyers, and various internal stakeholders.
Track and maintain the immigration statuses of our Associates while keeping Public Access Files up to date.
Assist with arrangements for immigration consultations and other critical elements of employee work permit and visa process, including providing timelines and updates to the issuance of the visa and arrival.
Provide I-9 guidance to employees and training to HR team members and other stakeholders.
Ensure audit and compliance in accordance with our Standard Operating Procedures.
Coordinate and maintain FICA exempt reports.
Estimate yearly accrual for total spent on all immigration cases by immigration law firm.
Support team members in implementing the immigration changes to the process.
Create and review Service Level Agreements.
Track, benchmark and make recommendations on best practices.
Provide immigration-related support services to various business groups/departments.
Partner with HR Business Partners, HR Operations Partners, and Talent acquisition and provide education & coaching on immigration policy and procedures.
Manage relationships with outside immigration counsel to ensure adherence to compliance, service level standards, and communication.
Provide guidance on high-risk matters.
Build scalable processes for internal approvals, alignment with policy, and immigration compliance and conduct an ongoing review of immigration processes to ensure resource optimization.
In partnership with outside CHRISTUS Health Labor and Employment counsel and Immigration Counsel, forecast annual immigration spending based on current immigration volume and hiring trends.
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree.
Master’s Degree preferred.
Previous experience in a business environment with a high volume of US immigration preferred.
Knowledge of US Immigration, US Visa Types, processes, US Immigration regulations and compliance requirements.
Knowledge of local and relevant employment legislation.
3+ years of experience in project management or working on multiple projects or cases independently in an environment with changing priorities.
