POSITION SUMMARY: The Sleep Center Office Specialist is responsible for carrying out all general office management functions including filing, copying, faxing, and reception and necessary scheduling/pre-registration/registration processes to ensure complete readiness of the pre-encounter and encounter for patients accessing the Sleep Center. The Sleep Center Office Specialist ensures that all data including demographic information, insurance information, and all doctor’s orders for each account is accurate. The Sleep Center Office Specialist will prioritize and complete all scheduling/pre-registration/registration for accounts in a consistent, courteous, professional, accurate and timely manner. The Sleep Center Office Specialist has numerous procedural requirements including data elements such as insurance verification, authorization for services, admitting diagnosis, and physician information. The Sleep Center Office Specialist also registers and interviews patients, obtaining accurate demographic and financial information in line with TJC, EMTALA, organizational and PFS guidelines and requirements. The Sleep Center Office Specialist communicates directly with patients, families, physicians, nurses, and insurance companies. Position requires professional appearance and good communication skills, as well as dependability, flexibility, and team work.
RequirementsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent required. Medical terminology preferred.

SKILLS:
EXPERIENCE: At least five years experience in hospital registration/scheduling and general office management functions or a comparable position preferred.

General office environment, frequent contact with patients, VDT exposure.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Long periods of sitting, escorting patients to their area for service. Keyboard use with sound ergonomic principles. Must be flexible in work schedule.
