POSITION SUMMARY: Assists the inpatient pharmacy department staff in accomplishing the goals of efficiently dispensing medications through preparation of bulk and batch sterile products ( IV solutions); providing drugs and supplies to nursing stations and all associated functions that are entailed in that process, and producing accurate patient charges.
EDUCATION: High School diploma or equivalent is required.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES: Must maintain current registration with the NM Board of Pharmacy
SKILLS:
EXPERIENCE: Hospital experience is preferred.
NATURE OF SUPERVISION:
-Responsible to: Director, Pharmacy
ENVIRONMENT:
Occasional exposure in daily duties. Little expected risk, but may be exposed unexpectedly to potential infectious materials. Exposure may be superficial and limited to a small amount of fluid. Close quarters in a busy environment. Low risk for infectious disease. Possible exposure to hazardous chemicals, allergenic drug products and needle sticks. Moderate exposure to video display terminals.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to move throughout the hospital at a rapid pace for the entire shift. Hearing must be sufficient to answer telephones and eyesight must be sufficient to read requisitions. Hand-eye coordination must be sufficient to perform aseptic technique. Must be able to raise a moderate load (less than 50 lbs.) using sound body mechanics alone or with assistance.
