Description
- Registers all patients to the hospital in accordance with the procedures.
- Accurately registers arriving patients who have been referred by a physician for treatment and or diagnostic testing.
- Accurately pre-registers patients for services and accurately gathers all necessary information including billing.
- Accurately scans all required documents into the patient’s account.
- Schedules the patient for all services required in centralized scheduling.
- Faxes notifications to insurance companies that require it.
- Accurately completes Advanced Beneficiary Notice on patients as required.
- Accepts patients in order of arrival with the exception of those pre-scheduled.
- Collects payments on patient accounts at time of service and on other outstanding patient accounts.
- Balances designated cash drawer at end of shift.
- Assists patients with insurance, billing and other inquiries they might have pertaining to their account.
- Verifies insurance benefits, notifies patients of PAR requirements.
- Directs patients to correct department or area of service.
- Verify that appropriate insurance authorizations and/or referrals have been received and placed in patient records prior to patient visit.
- Respects confidentiality.
